Hey, so I hope I'm not being obnoxious by creating a new thread just for my pictures, but one of the things I love about this forum is getting to see what others do with their haunts and learning their secrets, so I really wanted share this with others who would appreciate our hard work. Looking at some of the other pictures uploaded around here can really be a humbling experience, but also an inspirational one! My girlfriend and I have only attempted to create a haunt for the past two years, so many of you really give us something to aspire to.

Here are the photos. I don't want to clutter things up by posting everything in this thread, so I'll just post a select few below.

Our party was the Saturday after Halloween (November 5th), once again this year, and despite our concerns about people's enthusiasm five days after the official holiday, the party was a great success. Unfortunately, we pretty much forgot to take photos of the apartment the night of the party, and things were in such disarray the morning after that it would have been too much work to set things back up just for photos. The photos we did get were mostly with a flash and don't do a very good job of capturing the ambiance of the low-key lighting.

The biggest success, decoration-wise, was definitely the porch, which we surrounded in black plastic and turned into a torture chamber.

What you can't see in my drunken photos: many rusty chains, an antique railroad lantern, fake barbed wire, and an old block and tackle hanging from the ceiling. Also, I put a sound-activated hedge shaker inside the trash can. It went off each time someone stepped onto the porch and really sounded quite frightening. The whole thing looked much better when lit just with a red light bulb.

The kitchen was supposed to be a witch's kitchen, with lots of specimen jars. Here are a couple of my favorites:

We also turned the bathroom into the scene of a massacre, with the bathtub filled with blood and torture tool garland hanging around the shower. We turned our bedroom into a child's room and had some monsters coming out from under the bed. We forgot to take photos of both.

Anyway, the grand finale, though, was a super secret contest at midnight. We took everyone into the alleyway behind our apartment and up to this creepy doorway that we've always been too afraid to set foot inside of.

The contest was supposed to be who could stay inside the longest, but we all just ended up going in together. It leads into a huge abandoned basement that looked like it was straight out of a Silent Hill video game:

Among the detritus were many eerie objects, but most of us agreed that this was one of the scariest things:

Maybe next year we'll actually be more organized and successfully follow through with the contest.

Oh, and Freddy Mercury was there!

Of course, we're already brainstorming for next Halloween. We're thinking of doing a Christmas massacre theme throughout the whole apartment - maybe getting lots of a old Christmas decorations, a white tree stained with blood, and lighting the whole thing with an old color wheel. My girlfriend and I will dress up as a demented Santa and elf. I think we're going to do the witch's kitchen and the torture chamber once more, but add to them. Any comments, tips, or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Sorry for the long thread. I hope it was worth your time.

Great pictures! The abandoned basement is definitely creepy. It would be great to do a true contest next year - maybe you could up the scare factor a little with some spooky sound effects and additional scary props.
