When do you repair or fix broken or non-working props? Now, before you pack them away? or Next year when you start preparing for Halloween?

I tend to try to fix before I pack away, or at least up and till my wife makes me stop and decorate for Christmas...

I wait until next year. After Halloween, I'm pretty well spent and don't have the motivation to work on anything else. I'll make notes of what needs done and then when I start dragging stuff out I'll make any necessary repairs.

I try and do it over the Winter months and just leave the prop out. That way there's always something hanging around that reminds me of Halloween.

I have learned a valuable lesson.....do it now! When it comes time to Halloween I have to much to do to add fixing something to the long list I already have. Pack things that go with each other and label label label so you are not going crazy looking for something.

Same here. Once everything is put away I have to focus on Thanksgiving & Christmas & won't think about Halloween again until Feb. or March of next year.

I left out a few smaller talking props that are having problems. This way I can tinker with something I've never tried over this winter. Most of the big stuff I have to wait until next year since the day time temps are only in the high 40's if I'm lucky. I'm also letting my body rest a little before I even think of doing something else.

Nothing gets put away until it's had any necessary repairs or upgrades completed. I don't have any broken props this year but I'll be updating some of the electronics on a few so those projects will be the first on my to do list. I don't want anything else to do once I start pulling things out next year.

I repair stuff now, rather than store it for 11 months then pull it out and remember I have to spend time that I don't have to fix it.

Anything that needs repair gets put where it is easy access so that I can pull it out easily through out the winter and spring. Once things are fixed then I focus on making something new.
