Our little town has about 500 people in it. We had over 200 people go through our haunt this year!

200 TOTs in under 1 minute

    Outside the haunted house

    Inside the haunted house

    Background:

After discovering this forum last October, I attempted my first haunt. Last year we had 68 TOTs and about 130 people go through the haunt. The year before that was a simple setup on our front porch and handing out candy. We had 58 TOTs that year.

So this year, I put a bit more effort in it (spurred on by the excellent posts on this forum).

Our home is about .25 miles from the nearest "major" road. So we have a very long driveway and front yard. It's hard to fill it with a lot of decorations, but we placed enough to set a mood for the haunted house.

The haunted house is our game room. We had to work around a pool table by building faux walls and "rooms". If you've never been here before, you didn't know what was in it.

We had two live actors inside, but only one made it. The other had to cancel at the last minute due to an unexpected death in the immediate family.

I learned a lot this year. Especially a lot of what not to do or what to do differently next year.

The best/scariest prop was one I built and it was the cheapest thing I had. It's the breathing prop at the end of the video. Kids and adults were terrified of it, but you had to pass it to get out!

Sorry for rambling. I could go on and on...

    Thanks for the great forum!

Haha you had nearly half the town come to your house - that's amazing!

Thanks for posting the vids, I love that prop at the end. That would have scared me for sure!

    200 people...and one dog!

Really liked your vids. Great props- of course I like them because I have most of them too! Do you not love faux the flame pots? I loved them this year! I had two of them. Take a peek at my vid in my signature to see. I'm sure your actors and everyone appreciated an indoor haunt. I wish I could do an indoor one, but I'm stuck with outdoors and the weather. Great haunt. Thanks for posting!

    Thanks for the kinds words.

    That was the mayors dog.

I'm going to post some pics of how I made the breathing person here. I have a better video of it too (at the end - after the 3 minute mark).

I used a Christmas controller for the lightning. The white one with the green tree on it. Bought it last year after finding a link in the forums.
