I am from Cincinnati, Ohio and the fall October weather here is murder on all things Halloween. Every year I put up a graveyard just to spend every day placing the stones back up. I have read countless threads on how to fix this problem and have come to the conclusion there was no simple fix (not without altering my tombstones and driving rebar into the ground.) So I set out to fix this problem once and for all.
Over last summer I made a couple prototypes and some worked well some failed and some were just wayyyyy stupid, but one worked and worked good no not good great. It has a low profile it is not an eyesore and the best thing is it don’t damage your tombstones (store or home made) I will give you guys a sneak peek and tell me what you think.
Attachment 100578 Attachment 100579 This picture was taking after a storm you can see other stones laid over and one uprooted on my sidewalk. This one stone did not move all month long I am so proud. So please tell my what you think. I am thinking of taking this to the next step???

I just did the rebar thing and it worked great. I did have to attach pvc pipe to my tombstones but it was well worth it as it makes set up so much easier.
We all have it coming kid.

Yes definitely rebar and pvc is the way to go. You also have to make sure you get a little thicker tombstone to make it really work. I live in Florida and this time of year we get all sorts of wind so rebar and pvc has saved many of my tombstones

Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

I tried the bamboo + floral wire that I read on this forum. They held up but the bamboo was coming apart, and they were loose and shakey.Next year, pvc and rebar lesson learned. Spookalicious mama- do you use just pvc glued on the backs or do you sandwich them in like Terra and many others do?

Hmm, this may be something to try. What is the "T" (stake) part up of? Looks like it may be a good, non-permanent solution.

This year I broke down & glued with Liquid Nails a 1 FT section of PVC to all my bigger tombstones, & this held up on our windy days very well.

That's great if the wind is blowing from the front. This year before dark I had the wind blowing at my graveyard from the back pushing them all forward.

By dark the wind had subsided but before that the husband took some garden staples & wrapped some fishing string around the tombstones, tied it to the garden staple & stuck it in the ground. The ground was soft enough from the snow over the weekend so they were easy to put in & take out.

I'll get around to the PVC thing eventually, but in a pinch it worked.

This year I too decided NOT to use fishing wire or the like as it just tore into the foam. I glued 1" PVC pipe on the backs of the stones and rather then using rebar, as it is just too hard to cut, I used 1/4" PVC pipe and hammered into the ground, it worked like a CHAMP! The second night after decorating, we had 40MH winds and it held up like a champ, no damage and no loss!

I like the looks of it. Was it a very small bungee strap? I've tried glueing the pvc onto the back of the tomestones and then hammered small rebar into the ground. The pvc tended to just rip the back off the my foam tombstones so I had to give that up. The stakes that actually come with the tombstones have worked great but, some don't come with them.
