Thought I would start a general thread here for people with only a few pics of their yard to post and hopefully keep it as a running thread instead of a lot of individual threads.

This year was a crazy year for us what with our landscaping being done. We told our contractor we needed to have at least the front yard done for Halloween--didn't quite happen. Had to use a number of extension cords since we didn't have power to the area yet, but at least it was walkable. The "fountain of blood" didn't have power or water running to it so we skipped setting it up. Here are a few pics taken during set up.

We added a courtyard to our front entry way. Love the space it created. It's perfect for a haunt area. I decided this year we would turn the space into a castle with gargoyles guarding the entrance. Scared off a few kids before they got inside for their candy but the vast majority of little guys braved it. I intentionally designed the entry columns to our courtyard wall to fit the resin gargoyles that I had bought a few years ago from HomeGoods. I thought they looked great lit up and towered over the heads of most of the little ToTers.

At the last minute I had wanted to add spiked fence edging from Big Lots as a wall topper, but didn't get that project completed in time, and there were a lot of other details that fell to the wayside as well. I had plans to use a black PVC pipe cut on an angle to act as a shield around the gargoyle lighting. It bothered me the light fixture was visible. I did add a colored gel to the fixture though and loved shining it up from below to maximize the shadows, sort of like using a flashlight near your chin when you would sit around and tell ghost stories. We used the garage wall in our courtyard area to set up the coffin and candelabras (those were from a TJMaxx a few years back). It's really nice to have a plain wall to work with when setting up scenes. Not pictured is the portrait of Dracula over the coffin or the other scene embellishments. Stucco finish BTW does a great job holding on to spider webbing and eaves make for a great place to hang bats. There is a pic or two in my 2011 album if you are interested that show the courtyard before the cement got poured and stucco applied.
