Fellow HF-ers (Heffers?)
For the first time in years my buttons just weren't pressed by Halloween this year.
For the first time I decorated the front garden and the kids and parents were all very complimentary (it's not very common in the UK to decorate outside the house beyond a jack o'lantern and the occasional window stickers), so that was really nice and I felt genuinely good about the ToTing.
What was missing though is that subtle I-don't-know-what, those little seasonal things that make Halloween memorable for me. I took our dog for a couple of walks both before the ToTers started arriving and after the last of them had finished hoping to get my fix of magic, but it just wasn't there this year. The sky was the wrong colour, it was too warm and it felt a little too much like a Monday evening rather than Halloween evening. And not a single Halloween/Horror themed tv show on the TV (although there was a fair amount of good stuff on over the weekend).
A fun evening but definately something missing. 5/10

Didn't do it for me this year. What would you give the evening out of ten? –

The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see vampires fly,
And harpies of upper air. That flutter, laugh and stare.

It could have been worse...much much worse...I only had rain...not snow up her in London Ontario...the props I was making didn't get done and I didn't take a lot of stuff out with the rain, but over all 7 out of 10...everyone dug the lab we set up in the back yard...with test tubes and dry ice and the hanging cage and stocks in the front drew the trick or treaters no problem...
It would have been a 6 out of ten except for this...at 9:30 some guy comes up. Looks like Joe Pesci. Wants to know if I want to buy some 'farm fresh eggs'.
No, really. He was serious.
I was nice to him and all, (who needs to hack off the egg guy, right??) Told him I didn't NEED any... But...weird...

It was a good year, lots of TT's and no one got hurt or cried tooooo much
T or T was from 5-7, and of course it rained 5-7, but other than that it was a success and im ready for next year.

This was my first time to have a haunted house so I give this year a solid 14 out of 10. It took me about 3 weeks to put everything together and we had a soft launch on Saturday night, medium launch on Sunday and killed everyone on Monday. My kids are 10 and 14 so they can handle the scary stuff. I made it very clear via signage and word of mouth that I believe Halloween, just like comedy, (within reason ) has no boundaries. My goal was to scare the crap out of everyone who came through. There is another haunt that is less than 5 miles away. They have been doing a haunt for 9 years and have a cool set up but many teens who came to mine ran out screaming and said it was 10 times scarier. The bar was set for next year. Now I just need to figure out how I can get someone to fly!!!!!!

With all that happened (snow, no power, stabbing the day of at the end of the street, no time to set up), I pretty happy. I would say a 8 of out 10!
Making the world a funnier place, one blucky at a time

10 out of 10 for me about 400 TT's with a huge amount of compliments on my yard. I actually had neighbors find out I wasn't planning on setting up this year and come hassle me into doing it!

Same here definitely a 10 out of 10. Over 1000 ToTs, 10-13 scareactors, 4 front greeters and 6 relatives with a front row seat, getting a kick of all the people coming out screaming. We were complimented that we were better than a professional haunt up in Tucson, Az, "that we were far scarier and better than the Haunt at Old Tucson". My mom, one of our front greeters, handing out candy, told us she was told the same thing and that the whole group of people that were with the lady who commented started applauding. Really, wow just wish I was there to see/hear that. Can't ask for anything better that that. We made kids and adults Halloween night, and it didn't cost them a thing, well maybe a few shaken nerves here and there and maybe a change of underwear, lol!!!

Wow! 400 and a 1000 tot? I thought I was doing good at 115. I am THAT house on our street and was hoping the neighbors
would give me a little competition. They didn't. I was a little disappointed this year That the props didn't get more attention. It
just wasn't as fun for me this year. I would say a 7 out of 10. But there is always next year!We all have it coming kid.

This will sound weird. The morning/afternoon of Halloween I was just not in the spirit at all. Never happened to me before. I didn't get a good night's sleep, was exhausted from the days of prep and actually didn't want to do it. But, as soon as the ToTs arrived - those feelings vanished and was instantly having a ball. So, it was a 10 out of 10 for me.

I had the best Halloween that I can remember. Best one as an adult anyway. It was everything I had ever hoped Halloween would be as a home owner, especially after realizing I could take Halloween decor into my own hands and do it my way...... thanks to these forums.
Went from 13 to 79 ToTs........ That's a big deal to us. Very big deal. We live on a fairly busy rural road with no sidewalks so people really have to go out of their way to stop here. We have also been the talk of the south side of town according to my family, so we're on cloud 9.
I'm not going to rate it, because we're going to increase our efforts exponentially for next year. We'll revisit the ratings then!
