mine was without a doubt my Flying Crank Ghost. It left people mesmorized asking how'd you do that. Lots of people thought it was a video projection.
Everyone loved it.

Welcome to my world where it's Halloween 365 days a year!

My biggest success was knowing that once again, we made the neighbor families happy with our fun decor and great give-outs.
As far as actual props and/or decor, weirdly, my Hickory Jack talking scarecrow was a MAJOR success. I could not believe it. That cheap little thing with kind of dumb, totally un-scary phrases in a silly and un-scary voice...sitting right there by the door so it couldn't have been a surprise to ANYBODY that the thing was going to move, talk, start smoking, grab someone, stand up and dance the jig, implode or something...yet people absolutely loved it and a lot of people screamed! Go figure!

My bubble fogger. I had kids lining up to take turns playing in the bubbles. Some were so enthralled that they left without getting their treat! Even the adults were playing with the bubbles.

Mine loved it all.Pirates was my theme this year after doing a graveyard for a couple of years.
So the kids loved everything but I would say the favorite was potc playing on my ship mast.

Hallowindow, all of them & my carved, fake pumpkins. Granted I think I have about 40 now, so when they're all in one place they do create quite a light show & look impressive.
It seems it's always the simple things that people dig. Not the groundbreaker you spent HOURS making, or the Barlow mask that still gives me nightmares, it was the projection on the sheet in the window & the pumpkins.Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

I think of this all the time when I'm constructing or designing something, especially when we were laying out our display this year. What is it that people really find impressive........... the standard "Joe Blows" of the world. Then I figured out how to slightly twist that big picture to create a little interest.

My neighbors always love the mass amount of carved pumpkins

I can't say any one thing. What I enjoyed was that some people (not all) took the time to walk around and actually look at the props in detail. The surprise of the night was my talking bust. I heard and tested them in low light and they didn't work unless you made a loud clap. To my surprise, The headlights from the cars activated them, which was great.
Making the world a funnier place, one blucky at a time

It's so hard to pick one thing....the popup guy that scared more adults (and one big dog) than kids was a huge hit....the FCG is always admired ....and the Hallowindow. I guess just when people thank you for what you do, that's the success. It makes you not mind your hot glue burnt fingers, exhausted body, big electric bills and all the blood, sweat and tears that goes in. When they get it, that you just want to make your community more fun, that's success to me :-).

I think that I just survived it. I set up about 99 percent of it yesterday and tore about 80 percent down after it was done. My body is killing me. As for props, our huge spider once again won the children over but, the fcg left them memorized. So did Hallowindow, my trash can trauma ( which broke it's cylinder) and my jumping spider from Fright Props.
