Its bittersweet for sure. We begin celebrating the season the 2nd week of September. We start putting out the decorations and start doing up the inside of the house. We have events just about every weekend starting with cider festivals leading up to all the Halloween events. Going to the stores checking out this years offerings. Getting new decorations and props to add to the haunt. Making the TOT night plans. Having bonfires, roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, watching scary movies. Then the big night comes, we do the best we can to entertain, enjoy the magic, and share that with everyone who enters our spooky domains.
Then, it's all over. The decorations come down, we smile remembering the memories from the last month and a half.
Im a bit sad, but also a bit glad. A couple weeks of "normalsy" until the other Holidays hit.
The rest of November is still Fall for me. Raking leaves and burning the scented Fall candles. Still drinking some hot cider and preparing for the Harvest celebration. But Halloween itself is over for another year.
In about February Ill begin making preliminary plans for the 2012 season, and that will bring that slightly ghoulish grin back to my face.
Hope everyone had a fun, safe, and enjoyable Halloween season.

Not sad at all, it was a great Halloween. And you're right, Fall is in full splendor - what a wonderful season.
Well, I am sad that there won't be a steady stream of scary movies on TV - but that's what DVDs are for, isn't it?

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before

"Another Halloween has come and gone" ....
Sad? Well, I guess a little bit. Happy about doing it, though! When the night comes around, we turn up the sound, switch on the stuff, and have a lot of fun."WHAT'S out there?"
"I don't know.......it was little and brown, and low to the ground!"

Halloween was basically washed out here due to rain. But I'm not sad, I've already got a list here on my desk for stuff to get started on for next year.

Honestly? A bit relieved.
It was over the top awesome though. We really, really had a good time last night. We had an extreme increase in ToT's due to our decorations, we met many neighbors that we've never met before, we had fun with neighbors that we already knew and loved, we were dressed up and giddy with joy to give out candy.... I think that was probably my best Halloween ever and I'll hold those memories dear to me always.
But.... I'm glad it's over. At about 9:00 pm the indoor decorations started being carried off to a back room to be packed away. Later on the entire outdoor display was taken down and put in the garage or in the backyard. I had a big sense of relief and satisfaction as I drove away from the house this morning seeing my lamp posts with bright clear bulbs instead of orange, my yard and sidewalks free of clutter, everything looking more straightened up and nice save for a slight remnant of a corn stalk leaf, or a tiny bit of straw left behind from where the bales sat.
Just a couple of simple xmas lights in the month to come....... nice and clean.

sad? yes and no....
yes ,..... because all the hard work and planning and hopes are done and over with for this Halloween, we all had a great time with the party, but MOST IMPORTANTLY we will always have the memories to share of the family working together and building props and gathering great ideas together.
we were extactic when we found HalloweenForum because up until then we didnt know much about how to create the awesome props Ya'll shared with glee. now we know how to go beyond the basic webbing etc. lol
no,..... because we are already wanting to start planning for next year
looking forward to new plans and ideas and making new friends and memories!
we hope all others here have had a wonderful time as we did!!

I never thought I'd like the looks of 365 days to go, but it's a wonderful number. This past few weeks have had some great moments. Halloween night was grand. But it's been a lot of sleepless nights, worry, anxiety, and TONS of patience- which I lost halloween morning/afternoon trying to get done in time. At this moment my back, legs and feet are in such bad shape that I don't have a clue how I'm gonna put this massive amount of stuff away. If I weren't so physically broken it would be no problem. But this is gonna be a challenge WORSE than getting set up! Sad halloween is over? I suppose- I love it. But last night was the first night in weeks that my mind could let go and just sleep. It's nice the demands and pressure is done, if only for a short 365 days.
