Yes, you read that right. This year I gave out big-size candies, little cardboard pumpkin cutouts with stickers for the eyes, mouth, etc., Krabby Patties, mini monster edible rings and...as a last minute thing, Mini Slinkeys.

I saw them at Target last night on special and I just thought, Okay, THAT is what my treat bags are missing. (We don't get that many ToTers which is why we can afford to give out fairly big bags, BTW...in case you're wondering.)

Anyway. My husband saw my son playing with a Slinkey. He wanted to know who had given those out and I told him, proudly, that it was us! Yes, we're THAT house, the one with the great candy and awesome gifts. And you know what he said? "What if a kid puts his eye out or gets hurt some other way on the metal? They're a liability. Let's not do that again."

Now I'm paranoid. Did I blind a bunch of little kids tonight? Am I going to Bad Haunter's prison? I actually am a little worried...they really don't look like they could hurt anybody but I suppose they could pinch or something...Ugh. Just a bit worried.

if it is a real slinky then you have a company behind you with many years of childs fun if it is a chinese knockoff not so much but as long as the kids who got it are old enouigh you should have no worries.. hmm guess i am not all that reasuring. but seems like a good idea

You're fine. It was a toy sold at Target? Then THEY would also be liable if you follow the whole "who is to blame" thing - if someone is sue-happy because their kid got hurt playing with a TOY they'd go after the big money. (even if it is a knockoff think of all the toys and seasonal that dollar stores sell - it's all knockoff stuff)

I doubt seriously that a kid is going to put their eye out on those things unless they are being really stupid... AND slinkys have been around FOREVER.
