As a kid growing up in the late mid to late 80's it seemed Halloween was insane..is it an illusion or for real? I'm not sure if I just think that because nostalgic memories are always filled with greatness and we're sometimes bias..but I don't think that is the case..
I remember when I was a young kid we'd be out until the late hours of the night, our parents would follow us in the car when we went further and further away..another thing it seems people were more prone to set up yard haunts and freak you out by posing dead..
We have places here in Canada, the larger cities, where people go all out but it seems in my area it's myself and one other person on the block lol..
But back on topic, I think everything was bigger back then..the costumes were so cheesy but popular, decorations were put up by tons of people and so forth..

I dont think it is a figment of your imagination. We had kids at our door at 5:45. That is bright daylight....boooo!
Kids were done by 7:45, barring a few groups of stragglers.
It was ridiculous. We setup a movie on the side of the house and watched until it was bedtime for the kids. The last two years, kids were still out until 9pm at least.
Trunk or treat has made a huge impact. I'm not totally against it anymore, because the one at school had some really great setups. I plan on doing me next year... But you can't deny fewer kids are out because of it.
