Like everyone else, we had massive plans and were raring to go in January....until the power went out in the haunted house. It took the POA until OCTOBER to get the freaking power back on.
Needless to say - we're running the haunt exactly like it was last year. Not a single prop changed or modified. Everything was built into the house and with no electricity, we couldn't see squat.
The only exception is the outdoor props, we managed to finish the vortex tunnel, but I'm still pretty bummed that we didn't do anything on the haunt at all.
Anyone else's plans get derailed due to unforseen circumstances? At least we're ahead on the plans for next year, I guess!

Yes, I lost my house and went from a nice outdoor haunt and a neighborhood with an average of 300-400 TOT's per house to a small apartment where I may not get any TOT's.

Oh, that's terrible icezombie!!!Especially with the long term prospect of the situation. I feel really bad for you

Devilsfan- I would feel really bummed having the SAME haunt two consecutive years, too. However, I am sure everyone will still love it, and a vortex tunnel is an AMAZING addition for this Halloween. We are just die-hards, so this type of disappointment is entirely self-inflicted. If it makes you feel better, I paid around $30.00 two consecutive years to go to the haunted Valley Fair, only to find that all attractions were EXACTLY the same (except for the actors) each year. And I honestly think I was the ONLY one that even noticed or could care less.

I am very disappointed. I had planned to build a lifesize Creature and Werewolf from Dog Soldiers. I got the Creature done, but couldn't complete the wolf because I still haven't got the head back from the taxidermist even though he got it in April!!!

I've been having a horrible time. My brother passed away after a short illness then my best friends husband passed away coming home from a football game. I'm decorating but my hearts not in it.

Lost most of my free time in September and some of October due to an insane work schedule. Was working weekends, until 1-2am several weeknights, I'm mentally exhausted in addition to being just dog-tired, so a bunch of things that we'd planned are off the table for this year.

Oh, and my MIL decided to get elective surgery and pulled my poor husband out of work for days the last couple of weeks and got mad at him when he said he wasn't available this weekend... she complained that Halloween was more important to him than family. Um, it's our wedding anniversary, last time I checked I'm his family too, and we'd already changed up lots of scheduling for her crazy antics, so she can go stuff it!
(she's a crazy person - hubby is ready to cut her off again... long story and really didn't need THAT mess cropping up again)
I'm so sorry for all of you that have had losses this year, either family members, jobs, or homes. That's way worse than my situation.
