I think I've mentioned before that Halloween is really not very celebrated in Sweden, and I have been trying to change that for the past 5 years. Yesterday I noticed that there is another house on my street that has put spider webs all over the bushes in front of their house!!!
I'm so psyched about that! It's catching on! It's catching on!!lol
How crazy is it that a grown woman can get so over the top excited by one bush with some fake spiderwebs? LOL
*rubs hands together with a maniacal grin* My plans are beginning to take shape, soon there will be more people interested in decorating for Halloween here than there are those who aren't! Muahahahahahha!

Thank you for spreading the spirit of Halloween. Sometimes I wonder whether people like us are a dieing breed, but then I read a story like yours. I am currently trying to get the same thing started in my neighborhood. Last year was our first year here and barely anyone decorated on our street. Well we have the one guy who just gives Halloween a bad name but that is it. This year I have seen a couple pumpkins in front of a few houses so hopefully slowly but surely the Halloween spirit is growing.
When Hallows Eve draws close once more
And terror rides the wind
The Ravenfells shall waken
And stalk their lands again.

How encouraging! Spiderwebs is a BIG step, in my opinion. It does not blend in with the fall/harvest decor of autumn....it is completely halloween. I wonder if some of your neighbors would be responsive to a make and take party? I would keep it very subtle, like a homemade witch's broom, or maybe a halloween wreath, and lots of elegant foods to ease the message of "Start Loving Halloween, People!!!" message that you are trying to get across to them.

That's fabulous! Spreading the Halloween spirit one house at a time. Hey, I got excited to see one neighbor with a dollar store tombstone and one web on the bush recently. One that never decorates. Yeah!!! Another sucumbs...

That's awesome!! It only takes one person to get up on the dance floor. Then the others will follow.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for Markee912! LOL! Welcome to the board btw!
Yeah, I must say I'm totally encouraged by this small display! And today, I did two "lights on" tours through our haunt for the little ones who are dying of curiosity but too scared to go through the real full blown haunt. This morning the local kindergarten brought a class of thirty little ones through the house, all of whom were totally fascinated. One of the teachers told me that my house was better than Disney Land (Which got me wondering what kind of scary-ass Disney Land she goes to, but anyway... lol ) And another of the teachers wanted my contact information so she could get me to help them set up a haunt in the school next year for the kiddies.
I was like, "Spread Halloween to even MORE people?? HELL YEAH!" lol
... Tonight, I had 79 kids and parents go through the "Lights on" tour as well, and all of them kept making comments about how I should charge admission and how it's so great to see all this stuff, some of it has GOT to rub off, don't you think? Hehehe
Plus, 40 people went through the full haunt last night, and we've got another haunt tomorrow too, so we're definitely getting the word out there! lol
Shadowless, that's a great idea! I'm going to suggest that next year I think! We've got a couple friends who have come over to our house every week to work on props of their own, I bet lots of people would want to join in and do that! Thanks for the suggestion!Mordessa
