So last weekend I had 2 of my tombstones stolen off of my front yard. The nervy witch stole them when we were still awake too!My neighbour heard a styrofoam pulling off rebar sound and came out from his backyard to find a woman carrying two of my tombstones off of my yard. He yelled at her that they did not belong to her and she then hightailed it to a waiting car just sitting at the corner. You'd think since she got caught redhanded she would have just dropped the stones and ran but no, she must have really wanted them cause she kept a hold of them all the way to the car. My neighbour couldn't chase her down or get a licence plate because he has a bad back.
Gotta say this has really dulled my happiness. I know they're just a couple of store-bought tombstones (they were my fave 2, btw) but it just makes me so sad that people do stuff like this. I have now pulled my zombie risers and a couple other nicer props in the house for fears that they will be stolen too.
Who else has had this type of stuff happen to them and any advice to bring a bit of Halloween-happiness back into my heart will be appreciated too.
Thanks again everyone for the ear.![]()

As I was going up the stair, I saw a man that wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today...Oh how I wish he'd go away.

I have had stuff stolen from me in the past. It does kinda bring you down a little bit. One year, they stole my lawnmower that I use for my lawnmower victim. It wasn't even a great lawnmower. Maybe worth $10 since it ran. A few skull stolen here and there. I never have caught anybody in the act though. Maybe karma will take care of this thoughless person. The only thing I know that helps is the look on the faces of the TOT's. It makes all the bad feelings go right away. It reminds you why you love this holiday.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

I know exactly how you feel except we had a happy ending...someone stole our main haunt sign (Mourning Rose Manor). I was so crushed when it happened, And it puts you in a huge funk. I decided to say screw it and make a new sign and that's it.. 3 days later a very nice lady returned my sign in perfect condition. Lame kids had just taken it and put it on her doorstep. Now I have a new friend and my neighbors watch my house even better. You can't let them get you down and spoil YOUR holiday...chin up!!!

Last year or the year before last I had two real, carved by me pumpkins stolen off my front porch during the day.
I drove the neighborhood looking for them or any signs of smashing. Nothing.
Somebody took two carved, dying pumpkins off my porch and kept them as their own.

I hate to hear this stuff happening. Its sad that people cant just look and not steal. I feel frya as I have been there before. This year I am covered with full cameras so if it does happen my alarms go off and I see them and we go have a little talk about what they are up to.
Hang in there have a pumpkin bar and some egg nog and just let the sadness slip away.

I had a skull stolen from my lawn once, and it was the same one that the neighbors kids just "loved"....a few days later, they came to the house (the kids) and said it "blew" into their yard...not likely, considering it was a bucky skull, so it had some heft! I was just happy that they chose to do the right thing
So on halloween, I dropped some extra goodies in their bags

I put up some signs at night around my props that say; Smile; you are on camera. So far; it has worked.. LOL

I am sorry to hear this. I agree with the other member though, just like in life, there are a few bad apples. Keep in mind most people are honest and how much kids love the night of nights and you will rejuvenate.

I'm also sorry to hear of all that has happened. There is no reason for stealing other people's decorations

Didn't get my tombstones pulled right away after the big day & a few days later some teenagers grabbed all my nicer tombstones with some skeletons. They left behind the dollar store stones.
