So this past weekend I helped build a haunted house for a harvest festival at my sons school. In the past the haunted house has been in the library, but due to an incident with a fog machine and a fire alarm, that was ended. This year the haunted house would be out doors along the school walls. The trick was that we had to build it from scratch the morning of the festival and tear it all down by the end of the night. It took a very small group of us 8 hours to put up and about 2 hours to strike.

This made me start to think about the haunters here. How many of you have built displays with limited time to do it?

Here are some photos of what we accomplished. I'll post more soon.

I know what ya mean on being crunched for time. I've only got 365 days this year and I'll be pushing it the end.

Not counting building any props, I probably need at least a week to set up. If I had help (about 10 volunteers that I could direct) and had things organized, we could kick it out in a day.

I don't know whether to envy or feel sorry for the folks that can set up their whole display in one day.

I've had to do similar for a school before. Laboratory, 2 hours setup. The trick is just to get as many pieces 'plug and play' as you can. Fewer bigger pieces as opposed to many smaller ones.

Wow, super job in 8 hours. I too had to set up and indoor haunt in about a day for a local church. Kinda ironic. We didn't fare as well as yours as we had our own haunt to worry about and only 4 people collectively.

Looks Frightful! With only eight hours, you guys really pulled it off! Did someone else step in to scare people, or did you play that role too. I would be SO EXHAUSTED! My aunt has to set up the day of trick or treating, and it's just her and me, but we just keep putting things out until we run out of time, and it doesn't look near as good as what you guys did. Definitely agree with putting out the big stuff and forgetting the small details when it comes to a crunched time schedule. Kudos to you and your team!!!

We had the older kids from the school as the live props. Every hour they would cycle to a new group of kids. My self and one other adult managed the kids inside, Making sure no one got hurt.
