So the d%^& mice did it again. It's been almost 12 years since the last attack but today was the day. I wanted to setup my faux fireplace and pulled it out only to find they had chewed up part of the bottom. Had to pull a quick repair and paint job but once again it's that unplanned task that just slows everything down.

I also made my fake glowing embers for the bottom and they came out great. That was the bright spot of it all.

Sounds like you need to adopt a cat. Glad to hear you got it fixed.

I feel for you. Squirrels chewed some of my props the first year we were in this house. My wife tells stories where I come off sounding like I'm Wile E Coyote in my attempts to keep the nasty tree rats out of the shed and away from my props. Mice nested chewed up one of my ice chest tombstones and then nested in my burlap scarecrow the 2nd year here with a similar reaction from me. I can forgive the nesting--MN is cold--but the chewing really ticks me off since it's not stuff they can eat anyway.

Vector snap traps, peanut butter with crushed crackers in it. Those two combined will give you lethal, and pleasing results.

I did take them all out with traps last winter but I guess the damage was already done. Luckily Halloween is all about mood lighting so quick patch jobs aren't noticeable. Hopefully everything else will go smooth. Most things are setup and only one pneumatic prop left to get working.
