This year I decided to make a few changes to the way I have been doing things the last couple of years. The biggest change is that I started setting up yard props two weeks before Halloween, where previous years I only did the day of or day before. Also I have a large front yard that was never filled by the grave yard, so this year I'm adding a harvest theme next to the grave yard.
Last weekend I started by setting up 9 corn shocks and placing the stakes for 8 scarecrows. Then once a day I added one new scarecrow to the mix (well I missed a couple of days because of wind storms and work, so I added two today). Today I also started in with the large tombstones. I'll add a couple a day for the next couple of days until the majority of the setup is done by the middle of this week. I won't put out the skellies or FCG until the weekend though.
This year's light show got quite a lot bigger with my rental company actually getting started and buying a bunch more gear. Programming took forever but it is going to look so much better than last year.
Here's a couple of shots from the progress so far. Thanks to unorthadox for the inspiration to do the harvest theme.

Nice! I love the harvest theme. It's so hard to pull off here because our lawns are still lush and green and the leaves haven't even started turning. Looks like you have the perfect setting!

Green trees and lawn would kind of kill the harvest theme that's true. The lawns and some trees here are unusually green for this time of year. Those large maple trees should be pretty much all orange and have about half as many leaves by now. It's been a fairly dry and quite warm October for us here so things haven't dried up as much as normal yet. I think it will change quite a bit by next weekend though as it's forecast to be fairly cold most of next week.
Thank you for the complements so far. Be sure to check back, it's nowhere near all setup yet!
BTW 5 of the corn shocks will get a moving light under/inside of them to light uplight that shock/scarecrow combo, or move to front light, back light or side light the other shocks, scarecrows or trees. The lighting this year is going to be pretty intense. However it won't be flashy xmas light style either. It's a lot more subtle and slow changes, except for the lightning.

Well it's been a busy couple of days. I got a costume this weekend, some friends and I got the pumpkins carved (hopefully not too early), I got all of the tombstones placed and got the kitchen cleaned (again as carving pumpkins made a mess). I haven't taken any photos lately as I keep forgetting. Also the tombstones had to be brought in as it's supposed to storm tonight, so there wasn't much to take photos of tonight.
Except for another new thing for this year. Last year just after Halloween I found this Chandelier for a play I was doing the Lighting Design for. I managed to keep it after the show so this year I hung it where I've got an outside light. I'll get some more photos when the weather clears and everything else is back up.

Oh, I am SO envious of those TREES!
Look forward to seeing it lit, and what all you have up in the corn. Figures, scarecrows, whatever they are.

Your yard kinda reminds me of that. Death under the trees with Harvest in the background. (that's a discworld book cover, but which one is lost on me)

Oh that picture is very cool and creepy, I like it. The hour glasses add this aspect of limited time which is very symbolic. I don't have hourglasses, but I have a couple of old train lanterns that I'm thinking about setting out or hanging in the trees. That will be VERY weather dependent though as I don't want to risk damaging them. The two I'd put out both have the original glass in them. Maybe that would be the one thing I'll compromise on and use a fake tea light candle in.
I was talking with a friend yesterday and thought I should have changed the name this year to "Dead Harvest Graveyard". I'm pretty sure I will do that next year.
