I dont wanna put a bad vibe on anything or sound like iam a complainer but this month had gone by so quick and no one that os close to me had been in the spirit except for my wife and I. I dont even really have great plans for that weekend .. Couple house partys we could go to but iam kinda deppressed that none of our close freinds want to do anything or ever care... Only thing we got planned is halloween horror nights and a pumpkin carving party wich alot of people said they couldent make it to... Just love halloween so much and it only comes once a year.. Wish i had more people in my life that shared our love for it thanks for letting me vent.

I used to feel this way every year! I love Halloween so much and would try to get everyone motivated with plans that either fell through or were pretty lame. This is the main reason I now throw a huge party every year- I know for certain it will be a blast and as years go on our friends get more and more in to it. Perhaps just make the most of it this year with your wife, maybe you could invite another couple over to watch a scary movie or find some community event. Next year, take matters into your own hands and start your own Halloween traditions. Hopefully others will follow!

I am very sad to say I never get depressed.

I got depressed this year as well...work has some lay-offs so Ive been so so stressed and busy...working 55-65 hours a week.Very depressed. I hate this downed economy. Wish Washington would do something helpful for once. How about declare Halloween a national week long holiday, everyone has to decorate, businesses included, outlaw"fun size" candy and 80% of decorations have to me made in the USA. Lets put America to work making Halloween decorations, candy and props!! Lets win the Halloween War!

I do occassionally. My sister was supposed to bring her boys up here from SC next weekend to show them my Halloween display, but she can't make it because of work. I'm kinda bummed. And I changed jobs at work and my schedule is all screwy right now. I still get my vacation time for Halloween but this week I'm working a stupid set of days. And the weather really stinks here right now....but I'm gonna snap out of my funk. Got to. I plan all year for Halloween and I'm gonna have a good time by golly.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

I set up a large yard display. If no one ever cared or came to look at it, I'd sit and enjoy the hell out of it myself- take pics and vids, and share it all here. Rather than parties, I focus my fun putting up a super yard display and giving the tots something amazing and fun to look at and trick or treat. That's the fun for me. Parties never float my boat. And the more elaborate I make my display, the more tots visit. So I don't plan on ever being alone.

Outside of my brother who listens to go off about my plans and comes and helps me set up on Hallowe'en , I to am pretty alone on this as well . My wife just started getting into it with me in the last couple of years but I'm sure that won't last long...lol.
I don't expect my friends to understand what Hallowe'en means to me so they are not apart of this part of my life.
I find it's Hallowe'en night that gets me into the spirit the most , the Trick or treaters and their parents/escourts are amazed at what they see and that they get to walk right into the scene.
It's all about the night ...October 31st.

Part of why I throw myself into my Halloween prop making frenzy is because I don't deal well with the season change in daylight. As the days start getting shorter and it stays dark longer into the mornings I have problems waking up or feeling motivated--not good for somebody self-employed and working from home. Getting geeked up about Halloween helps me keep my motivation to do other stuff. I was really happy to get the chance to get in on the 2nd secret reaper exchange here on the forum because I get a jolt out of putting together a gift box for somebody who shares my obsession with the holiday as well as the idea that somebody else like us is doing the same thing for me.
