I am a Christmas junky, but I buy nothing Christmas before November 1st. I just don't want to. I could see them starting to setup a few weeks before November so it's ready for then, but any earlier is just not necessary! When I worked in retail, we got our Halloween stuff set up in mid-August, so 10 weeks before hand. So by mid-October, it makes sense for Christmas stuff to move in and begin to push Halloween stuff out.
Honestly, I think it is because Halloween is a shorter season than Christmas too. Our Thanksgiving was this past weekend and I did not see hardly any Halloween decorations until the holiday Monday when all of sudden I see them every where! So that's what?...3 weeks until the big day? Where as November 1st I see full-fledged Christmas trees in people's windows...LOL! And most of them probably don't get taken down until after New Years.
So yes, to me that's what makes the most sense - The longer the season, the earlier the decorations come out. That's why smaller "holidays" like Valentine's Day, St.Patrick's Day, Canada Day and what ever don't get a ton of murchandising like Halloween and Christmas.
But yeah, I pay no attention to Christmas stuff until after Halloween...The Christmas season is long enough as it is! Hehe.
Just my 2 cents.

I personally LOVE the Christmas stuff.
All those colored C4 bulbs just ready to be put to nefarious uses, typically cheaper extension chords, colored green to hide in the yard, power stakes, power strips, Prop stands (some say tree..), string lights in every color, LED lights. Heck I'd be lost without the Christmas fake candles.Last edited by UnOrthodOx; 10-13-2011 at 04:04 AM.

That is such an entertaining scene to imagine.
So if most of the Halloween stuff is gone from Michael's, is what's left on clearance? They had something I was thinking of going back for if it was on clearance.
Back in September... the middle of September... I saw a house fully decorated with Christmas lights. My jaw literally dropped, I did a double take and just stared at it in shock for about thirty seconds. I couldn't believe it.

I agree, especially since my local craft stores do a pretty good job of keeping Halloween items stocked until at least mid to late October. But I was pretty bummed out when I went to Walmart today and could hardly find anything left and the Christmas isles had grown by two or three. I wish all Christmas stuff would wait until November 1st!

Oh yeah I was also able to find the exact lightbulb I needed for my pumpkin thanks to the Xmas stuff at Home Depot... I have this plastic jack o lantern that plugs in and it has a small orange light inside to light it up. The light burned out last year and I just took the bulb out to see if I could get a replacement. That's when I found out it was actually an orange bulb. I figured I would probably NOT be able to find a small weirdly-shaped orange bulb like that. Well I was checking out the Xmas lights at Home Depot to see if I could use any for my Halloween crafts and I saw a pack of replacement bulbs that looked exactly like the one I needed! Of course it was a pack of all different colors and only one bulb was orange but it was still cheaper than the pack of clear bulbs I almost bought because they were the only ones that were the right size.

The day stores start putting up Christmas stuff BEFORE Halloween stuff is the day I start writing annoyed letters to everybody. D:
