Maybe I am just paranoid, and I don’t want to be a downer, but the church and Halloween just don’t mix. Our youth group put on a haunted house a few years back. The pastors was involved and everything. They tried to send a message that it was just good fun and not something that was created by the devil. The event itself was wonderful, but the backlash was more scary then anything in that house. Many of the “old school” members were very offended and wrote nasty letters. Many left the church and some even had some nasty words in church about the pastor.
Just my opinion, but I would keep things very tame in the design department. Just to "test the waters".

i sure hope this isn't turn out to be the case here ... but i have a neighbor that just doesn't understand what we do ... what halloween really is & not what they have been told it is
even some people that i worked with, young people, thought that halloween is the devil's birthday & other such bs
congrats, for the encouragement ... & good luck ...
i say go for it, you don't have anything to lose

I plan to keep things tame. We will be paper macheing some pumpkins and masks..this way if they learn the basic technique, maybe it will spark their imaginations and they will build and create other things. Also some crafts from Martha Stewart, Home and Garden and Country Living and a few other things I have found online as well as whatever they want to make. The church members are providing the money for all the materials. In our neighborhood in the past the kids did not have anything to do so they tagged property and set fires so I guess as evil as some people may think the Halloween Holiday is, it is still better than what they had before.I will be speaking with the congregation tomorrow night for requests and questions. I will update on how that goes.
"Always on. Slightly Off" (Just like IFC TV..lol)
