Just like all of you, Halloween is big at my house. My boys, 9 & 6, have been brought up around all the Halloween items you can imagine. I've been waiting for them to get to the "gentle scary" stuff, like bloody makeup, mask, etc. I thought maybe this year, but alas, one wants to be Brian McCann and the other Tony Romo. Sigh.... Maybe next year. I'm not "rushing" them out of their young lives, just looking forward to a time when we can enjoy a good scare together.

My husband does too. He says we should rig a football to our son's hand so it can fall repeatedily. RB will be "dropping" the ball while asking for treats. He thinks he is so funny. Probably would be if it wasn't so true.

My soon to be 9 yr old son wants to dress as a smurf because he thinks it will get some laughs. LOL He is the class clown of the family...anything to get a laugh. Funny thing...he and his 2 friends were here yesterday trying to solve mysteries around the house when all of a sudden they all came running downstairs with heavy packs on their backs, swords in hand, and hats/masks on their heads. I told them the looked like ghostbusters and they said that's what they are trying to look like. They were off to find ghosts in the yard. It was too funny! Gotta love them!

LOL. Oh man I have two boys but they are much older now...19 and 16 now but I can remember when I no longer had control of what they wore or when they would run around with their friends hunting ghosts or just playing any ol type of game. You have to crack up at them when they are that age it is such a great age!
Here's a story I can share but dont you dare tell my 16 year old. So when he was younger and we would go see a harry potter movie or anything that was a little scary for a young lil guy he would always lean over and tell me....im can sleep with you guys right? Of course we would let him and my husband would carry him back to his bed when he was out. So jump forward a few years and he goes with a group of friends to see the Paranormal Activity. I get a call from him from the theater after its over..."mom, no joke I have to sleep with you" I said are you kidding me? My husband is yelling at me in the background "that boy is bigger then me and he is NOT sleeping in our bed!" (its true he is bigger than my husband and all muscle LOL. So I said " stop it you will be fine its just a movie" "he comes back with I dont care what you say Im not sleeping in my room alone" Come to find out all the other guys(who are all huge sport playing teens) are calling their parents at the same time giving them the same statements LOL. My husband put his foot down though and said he will not be in our bed that its ridiculous! ......After a good laugh with all the parents on the phone my son did sleep with us.....he dragged his bed into our room and slept on the floor ...right next to mommy
LMAO It still cracks me up that this huge kid of mine who is normally not afraid of anything, has a girlfriend and plays football and water polo harder than most....was on the floor right next to me on his mattress in a fetal position under his blanket all because he was afraid to sleep alone. LOL
Boys rule and I would have had 4 more if I could have afforded it! Enjoys those boys of your and they will soon be wearing bloody makeup running around with masks and knives trying to scare the mess out of ya! You'll be sorry actually because mine got many kicks out of scaring me for while and he got really good at it! For me I couldnt wait for them to get out of the Ninja phase! Man was I happy when that was overLOL. Keep us posted and take pics of Tony Romo and Brian McCann for us Id love to see and you really should do that dropping the ball idea that is great!
Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

Wow. That's gotta make you kind of proud, though! I was wishy-washy as hell when I was that age. My mom usually had to make the decision for me. Jeez, I'm STILL wishy-washy. I never decide what to wear until the weekend before Halloween. Good for your boys and their decision-making skills and iron will!
You say "Crazy Cat Lady" like it's a BAD thing...

Spookilicious, that was hilarious! Not being allowed to sleep with his parents, he just moves the bed into the room!
Anything can happen on Halloween...

My kids don't want to wear anything scary yet either (they're 5 and 8), but I don't mind that at all. I was the same way as a child: the decor, movies, haunted houses, etc. were for the fun-terror factor; my dress-up was for imagining I was someone else, someone I admired.

I'm good with it...Your kids probably love the scary atmosphere; but their own "make pretend" is wide open, they can be anything or anyone, so they're going to try out all different personas.
