No kidding. TOTing here is 6 pm to 9pm on the 31st. They posted that info on a Facebook information page, and 3 people complained that 9 pm was "too late." REALLY!?

I could see moving TOTing to Friday or Saturday or even Sunday but THURSDAY?!!!! That's kinda lame. The hours though, are kinda typical. They try to discourage kids from being out on the street after dark to prevent them from getting hurt by speeding cars.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

In the 70's, it was sad having to trick or treat on a "school night" but we still did it, still stayed out reasonably late, came home, went to sleep and went to school the next day.
"WHAT'S out there?"
"I don't know.......it was little and brown, and low to the ground!"

I just don't get re-scheduling Halloween... the day is always October 31st, and I've never lived in a place where they changed it due to falling on a weeknight or limiting hours. If 9pm is too late, TURN OFF YOUR LIGHT when you want to stop or just don't do it at all. Silliest thing I've ever heard.

Lucky for me they have never changed the schedule in VA. What I really don't get is why Thursdays? Friday night or Saturday night make sense but Thursday?

Yes, spot on again. I am so frustrated with this silliness! "Let's ruin everything for everybody!" Yeah! Woo-hoo!
The kids out running the street could do LESS damage if the whole town wasn't locked in their homes by 9:01, throwing away all the high sugar, high calorie, teeth rotting candy that is so bad for us all!

My kids made out great one year we lived in Maryland and Halloween fell on a Sunday. We lived in St. Mary's County, and they moved Halloween to Saturday Oct 30th because some dillweeds didn't like the idea of TOT'ing on a Sunday, but Charles County next to us left Halloween on the 31st. So the kids got to go TOT'ing in our neighborhood on Saturday, then they went to a friend's neighborhood in Charles County on the 31st. They got to go TOT'ing twice!
