    Hey there Halloween lovers!

I'm feeling pretty behind right now because I have to admit that I am a total slob. I stink at cleaning and my apartment is nothing but clutter. I do want to point out that I do a good job at cleaning gross things (like the toilet, doing the dishes right away, taking out the garbage, etc). I just have a TON of clutter. I decided that I won't decorate until I have the place spotless. Since I suck at cleaning, it's taking forever. Is anybody else out there a mess? I need motivation to get my booty moving so I can surround myself with Halloween awesome-ness.

I have cleaned the garage TWICE this year, and hubby has it in a mess a day or two later. So now when he is moaning and griping while trying to find space to put the halloween stuff in the garage, I tell him if he had kept it clean, it wouldn't be so hard to find space for stuff!
I am unorganized though as well, we have our halloween stuff kind of all over, a bag or two here, a box of stuff there....:S good luck organizing! maybe just start putting stuff OUT, and then while taking it down, you can make a note to pack it away nicely (get some orange or black rubbermaids for halloween stuff!) or, get the clear ones, so you know exactly what is in each bin also, a label maker would be a great investment

Guilty as charged! It's not that we're pigs here, just so darned busy straightening up usually ends up not being a priority.

The little trick I do is to divide the space. I clean just the area I'm going to decorate...then reward myself by decorating it. Slowly, but surely, it all ends up not just cleaned, but properly attired for The Holiday.

OMG This is ME. I've got boxes and boxes of motors, switches, wires, hardware, and other prop-building supplies I need to get organized too. On top of everything else, I've had medical setbacks recently, so now I'm scrambling to finish at least one or two of my projects in time for Halloween.

Oh no I hope you're feeling better! Let's make a goal to have everything organized by this weekend so we can decorate!

yeah, i'm a slob, too. Altho I don't like the clutter and mess, I am lazier than I am offended.

What I have started doing is making a list each morning of 3 things to do that day:
    clean foyer
    clean the kitchen island
    laundry

it seems very manageable and sometimes in am motivated to do more.

Count me in on this category as well I like the auditor will clean a section and decorate it clean a section decorate it until its all done I find its less overwhelming that way and i'm less likely to mess it right back up

I get my moods. I can be very organized or I can not care and let things (and myself) go to pot

I've got to agree with moony_1 that totes/bins and a label gun are among the best investments regarding Halloween storage. It's difficult to keep motivated when one doesn't know what is where, that's for sure.

Good luck with your cleanup, psox16

I'm with you, psox. I almost feel like it's a wast of time to clean, because it's gonna get messsssy when I'm working on the props. But if I DON'T clean, it'll take forever to find anything, and I'll probably be wasting time running to the store to get stuff I already have. I think tonight I'm going to sit down and make list of things I need to do (similar to davidsdesire), otherwise my brain is crazy cluttered too.

BTW, if anyone would like a dead-simple "to-do" list, check out teauxdeux.com. You can't get any easier.

As for motivation, I make sure I get some music going and some coffee in my veins always helps.
