Thread: Well I set up today

I was coming back from the hardware store and passed by my competitors(friendly) haunt, they have been driving by my house daily lol. They had everything all set up and was looking good! The last few days people have been asking me when I was going to set up? I replied you will see!

Today unentionally I re built my hangman and stuck it out in the yard, then came the fences, next thing you know I was pulling things out left n right setting it up in the rain even lol

I have lots more to put out yet I plan on putting new stuff out every day, majority of my stuff I made my self and some projects are still in the works. I did get side tracked last few months working on my Jet Ski and not working on my props! I see some busy night time prop building in the garage the next few weeks!

My son comes home tommorrow and I cant wait too see his reaction!

I love that you have a drive by competitor. We do too. Last year was our first year in this neighborhood and our first year with a yard to do a yard haunt. We went all out, or at least as much as we could considering we only had a couple weeks to prep. We put up a few props early, but it wasn't until the day before Halloween that we went out and really started to set up. There is a guy down the street who supposedly went all out for Halloween and his brother who lived across the street warned us that we would have major competition. Well that Saturday as we set up the brother from down the street made maybe 10 trips down to the house across the street to talk to his brother and stand on the porch glaring at the decor we were setting up. We even saw him drive past with his son several times. By Halloween day as we set up the last of our props he finally gave in and crossed the street to come and get a closer look and talk. The jealousy and discomfort in him was quite obvious. I think it was at that moment that an unspoken competition broke out. This year every time we are working on props in the garage he mysteriously finds a reason to come driving slowly down the road passed our house. His brother no longer lives across the street so he doesn't have that excuse. I think he has been working on some new props to compete this year, I know I saw him working on something when we drove passed on our way to town. All I can say is "It is on!" I think competition is great it makes us strive to provide even better haunts. This year should hopefully be awesome.

I will get some pics up soon, I still am putting stuff out lol! We drive by each others houses daily it is pretty funny but we are freindly to each other and talk. It is good for the community, I think I will put up a sign on the turn off between our blocks so people come and check mine out !!!!!

Like you today was the day my haunt started to go up with the graveyard going in first. Now I'll be at it for the next three weeks, putting up props, lighting, and tweaking everything till the big night. As always I had lots of cars slow down while passing my house to get a look and a bunch of neighborhood kids walking back and forth checking out my progress all day. I shouted at one group of girls walking by asking them are they coming Halloween night and they replied " I don't know looks too scary to us"! Good start hu? I specially like hearing come Halloween night some of the parents tell me they drove by my house every day to see what else I put up each day. Just got out of my "Devils Workshop" tonight checking out and trying to repair blown out props from last year. Fun, fun, fun, it's sheer madness!!!!
