When I got home from work on Friday I had to pick up my Grandaughter from school. I have to babysit her pretty much most of this weekend. That along with other things going on I really didnt think I would be able to get any of my front yard display up. After I picked my Grandaughter up we took a little drive through the neighborhood and saw that five houses already had decorations put up. Nothing that compares to what I put up but I was glad to see people already getting into the spirit. You usually dont see anyone putting stuff up till a week or so before hand. Even though I was glad, I was also disapointed that I probably would have time to put mine out till later.
As it was, yesterday I was able to get my graveyard set up and as I went around the neighborhood again I saw that one or two more houses had things out. As I pulled into my driveway it dawned on me that everyone had store bought items out in their yards and everything in my yard I had made or modified except for my floodlights. I stood out their looking and felt pretty good.
A neighbor came driving by, slowed as they passed, went down the road, turned around and came back to my house and stopped. It was a young couple that lived down the street and had decorated and were out looking to see what others had out. The wife asked where I had bought my decor. My grandaughter had walked up at that point and said "My Papa made all of this" and swept her arms out indicating the graveyard. They parked their car and asked to look closer at the display which of course I said "sure". My grandaughter gave them a tour and in her way explained how I made different items. The husband asked a lot of questions and I mentioned the forum to them.
Who knows, maybe in a year or two I'll have some competition from them.

Great story Johnson. I bet your granddaughter will carry on the tradition here in a few years. Sounds like you have a future haunting buddy!

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

What a lovely story. That must've warmed your heart to hear your Granddaughter proudly say that you made everything. Turned out to be a pretty good weekend huh?

She is fully into it. She was a year and half old and escorting other kids through when I had it in my garage. She was telling a neighbor the other day, when asked what she was going to do for Halloween, that she was going to go trick or treating and then come back to help with Papa's haunted house.
