Valentines Day has cupid. Easter has the bunny. Christmas has Santa Claus, reindeer, Frosty, and numerous other. Heck, even Groundhog Day has Phil.
But what about Halloween?
We were able to count no more than seven Halloween mascots. Did we miss any?

While I love Jack Skellington more than anything, I'll agree that the Headless Horseman should be Halloween's #1 mascot!

It's hard for me to accept the film/TV characters because in my humble opinion mascots should be rooted in the mythology of a holiday. The Headless Horseman gets my vote, I mean come on it's a guy with a detached jack-o-lantern for a head!!! Perfection!

I remember reading the story of sleepy hollow when i was in grade school and have been fascinated by the headless horseman ever since. Probably partially why I am such a Halloween fan. He is my #1. I personally think of the typical monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman as icons of Halloween.

I have to agree with you on this one. Most of this list is made up of pop culture icons. Even the headless horseman was turned into a Halloween figure by Walt Disney.
For me, the perfect mascot would be a ghost, since that is what the holiday is based on - the spirits of the dead returning for one night to walk among the living.Dear Sweet Leota, Beloved By All. In Regions Beyond Now But Having a Ball...

.... No mention of Dracula, Frankenstein's monster or the Wolfman on there, but this "Sam" [who I had never heard of prior to reading these forums] and Jack Skellington make it onto the list?
*confused*
