Not ewven October yet and already narrowing down the places worth visiting for Halloween stuff. Michaels has little this year that is unique or interesting. Walmart and Kmart are terrible, as they've been in the past few years. A bunch of crap, no props worth looking at and hardly any masks. Already done with Target too but did pick up a pair of nice gargoyles there. The only places left are Spirit,Party City, Halloween Express and Factory Card outlet, all of which I've been to and none of which has anything to get jazzed about. I'll pick up a couple things to detail a few scenes we have and maybe get an inexpensive mask or two for our actors, but other than that, the Halloween shopping season is pretty much over for me. Kind of sad as I remember going to these places twice a week right up until the day before Halloween. Seems like I'd rather spend those weeks in October working on projects for the haunt. Anyone else share the sentiment?

Americans sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I know what you mean. Other than bags of webbing, I don't see myself buying anything from anyone's Halloween department from here on out. At least our Spirit store is finally fully stocked. I can go in there when I need to soak up some Halloween atmosphere.

I quit going to all those places years ago. Their prices are too high for props that are the same as everyone else has. I would rather spend my time and money making my own props that no one else will have, and only go to places like Spirit or Michaels for small accessory/detail items (I mean, when you need the odd severed leg or arm, where else ya' gonna go?)

Ditto. I have gone to Target, Michaels, Joann's, KMart, Walmart and saw nothing much interesting. It's all generic and the same, nothing different.

The only place I would love to go is spirit. My sonfound one in the city where I tried to find one a few weeks ago.He sent tme pictures and reassured me that the flesh eating zombie looked great. The pictures he sent are better than the ones on the website.Hubby who just had surgery yesterday said I will take you back down there.I declined-two hour drive.
My local walmart has one aisle on one side of costumes-pumpkins makeup. The otherside has candy. It is less than last year!!!

I know what you mean. Spirit has sucked for the last few years ever since they moved to a new building. Hardly any masks, hardly any props except big buck items and they look cheaper than ever and the prices are higher than ever, very disappointing. Halloween adventure is ok if all you're after is a costume. Party City wasn't quite set up last time I went but they were great last year, and the prices are good. I don't bother looking anywhere else. Target used to have a good Halloween selection until they put their grocery section in, now there is none. Yep. Halloween shopping season is over for me too.
