I think theyy should have a spray that would preserve pumpkins til Halloween. They should make kits for Jack O'Lanterns that would have a sound snsative light that could blink to music like the mouth is moving, and wy to do a second section for the eyes and nose. You could play music or backstory, and look like the pumpin's mouth is moving.
If you cut your pumpkins early there is a few things you can do to make it last. 1) after cutting put petroleum jelly over the cut areas and on the inside.2) if it starts to
shrivel then put the whole thing in a bucket of water for a few hours and it will rehydrate itself. Oh and there is a spray for sale out there not sure how well that works. I have tried the other ideas and they seem to work pretty good.
They posted on the news last night that if you use a little bleach with some water and wash your pumpkin it will kill almost all the mold/bacteria and your pumpkin will last longer and not rot. Do not put it on dirt since it will rot from the bottom. Also go with the petroleum idea on cut parts. If you want things to move, check this out.... http://www.themightymicroscope.com/windowcreeps/
