We talk about our own parties mostly, but what about some of the other parties you've been to? What have you liked? What did they do that was really cool? Unfortunately, most of our friends and family don't host any Halloween parties. Here's the ones we've been to.
1. A good friend of mine usually has one, but I don't go any more. It's based on heavy drinking, and people are also heavy smokers inside. They had a few neat props, and the food and drink were good, non-Halloween related, which is fine, but it's always fun to have some stuff which has a Halloween theme. I never complain about someone's generosity though. But the other stuff doesn't appeal to me.
2. Years ago a relative had one on their rented home on a farm. Pretty cool, with a real hayride. I don't remember much else, since it was like a once and done shot.
3. A friend of mine starting having one, in the middle of October now so it doesn't interfere with kid's TOTing. Mild, with no heavy drinking and smoking inside. Neat decorations around, some on walls, lighting effects, (including some of our own donations, since they just started), and some people will dress up. Good fun.
4. A relative of mind used to have the ultimate Halloween prop. Old country house on about a dozen acres. Hayride pulled by the garden tractor down the road to the church cemetery, a different theme every year (classic Hollywood, Wizard of Oz, disco, etc.), tons of props, mostly great finds from Goodwill and yard sales with a bunch of vintage decorations included. The outdoor garage has bar and multiple TVs, and everyhwere you turned around she had something cool and different. They even set up a tent just for bingo with prizes, which we all played at the end of the night. Guessing games, with a whole variety. And outside they ran a whole gamut of games and events where the kids would get tickets, and trade them in for prizes at the end of the night. Needless to say they're huge Halloween fans, married on the day. They've ended them, the last being about 4 or 5 years ago, and take a trip somewhere instead for their anniversary, which I can't blame them. They got too big, and didn't think to downscale, inviting over 100 people, and literally took the entire month to set up. We offered to help and did it their last year, but their parties were always the best. I don't know that they'll ever have one again. Great setting in the country with woods and farms around.

Only ever had one acquantance that use to have a "Halloween" party, and I only ever attended one. Like the one you mentioned though, it was basically a heavy drinking party with other activities I didnt care to engage in. So basically, Im it now.
