Hello ALL!
Yours truly and the Husband are taking a sabbatical from our lovely home in Las Vegas up to the legendary home of american Halloweens, the Northeastern US, that will last around 2 weeks in the middle of October.
During that time we will be going to pretty much every thing we can think of, but also, considering the time frame, We will be doing a substantial amount of Halloween geeking out during this time. We have already planned and bought tickets for Haunted Overload, but inquiring minds must know, what other awesome Halloween oddities should one engage in while in the areas of Washington DC, NYC, and Boston?
This is a once in a lifetime kind of trip, and a first to the northeast for my husband, so we are filling it to the brim. Any shops, attractions, or odd suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Horrifically Yours,
Strublay

Will you be anywhere near Philly, PA?? I think the Mudder (sp?) museum is there along with Eastern State Penitentary....
I didn't make him for you!... He carries the Charles Atlas seal of approval.
It's not easy having a good time! Even smiling makes my face ache!

Salem, Mass.
Visited the Halloween of 2005. It is like Diagon Alley from Harry Potter, combined with Halloweentown with a touch of tragedy when you visit the Witch Trials memorial. Sea air, cider, fair foods, costumes, old houses, creepy music and history so thick you have to brush it away from your face.
Love Salem.

If you're in Boston, then take a detour to Salem around Halloween, it is CRAZY.

Salem is about a 30 minute drive from the Boston airport, but it is TOTALLY worth it, lots of events, lots of tourist trap stuff that is loads of fun...
Stop by the Hawthorn Hotel and maybe attend their Halloween Ball? It's an annual event and I've heard it sells out fast - so it may be too late already.
The hotel itself is awesome but you have to like old, unique hotels and not be expecting slick and glossy hotel like stays. (I LOVED it, but that's me.
)
Hawthorne Hotel's "Saturday Fright Fever" Annual Costume Ball 8pm - midnight
Saturday, October 29. TICKETS ON SALE NOW. Must be 21 years of age or older. Please call 978-744-4080 for tickets and information.

Check out the the Mutter museum in the Philly area--they have medical oddities and strange stuff in general. My uncle is a curator there and has a Youtube video where he is feeding thier medical leeches. I'll see if mom can send me the link to post here but i'm sure a google search would pull it up, too

Thanks Frankies girl, but I'm getting home about a week before Halloween, so I'm going to miss out on the ball, however Salem is COMPLETELY on my list now, looking forward to it.
