I change out my bulbs but one year i did not turn on the porch light and when kids walked up I would say "the porch light isnt on and I dont believe in halloween" All the while three fog machines, two sound zones, and thunder n lightening were going off. Most TOT's knew the joke, but several looked at me like i was crazy. Safety first but change the bulbs.

I bought a few of the dollar tree solar lights, i pulled the tab out of one to test it and see how well it worked. It worked really well and gave off plenty of light all of three days, and just continued to get dimmer and dimmer.... I'm saving the rest until the actual day of halloween.

Lights are off, however with the green uplighting to the front of the house I have plenty of ambient light to navigate by. For the two steps up to my porch I use the mini, baterry powered LED spots that were popular last year to cast light across each step to make them easier to navigate for our ToTs.

hmmmm I like the idea of these mini spots and maybe do this along with a colored light bulb. That was my dilemma of not interfering with my lighting of my haunt but still making it safe for the TOTS.

Rope lights. We discovered quickly that with so much going on in the yard, the kids were wandering off the walk and into the haunt to get closer to things. So I run orange rope lights along the path we want them to take through the yard. Makes a huge difference. We also quit letting them up on to the porch once we hit 100 TOTs - they were tripping over each other, especially when there was screaming involved.
