Thread: Jack O'Lantern prank question

I was watching a Halloween documentary on my Ipod. There's a prank that kids used to do where people would carve a pumpkin, put a candle in it, put it on a stick, put a sheet ovder it, and parade around with it, and put it in windows and such. Anyoned done this? How do you keep the pumpkin on the stick, and the candle upright? Thanks.

Not familiar with the practice, but I'd imagine that stick is jabbed into the bottom of pumpkin (as opposed to balancing atop the stick, which would be nearly impossible.) Aside from that, it doesn't sound particularly safe to drape a sheet over an object containing a lighted candle . . .

Sounds sort of silly! Might be spooky to see it hovering around your window on a dark night, though...

I would think with a little bit of effort, a foam pumpkin plus electronics readily available at Radio Shack would be a safer and lighter way to go. It would be useable year after year as well.

lmao!! Where did you read this? That actually sounds fun. Although you may freak some people out if you are at their window. LOL! They may call the police. I am laughing while I am typing as I'm picturing what this would look like.

Yeah, an LED candle would be a lot safer

I've always loved the image of a pumpkin head with a ghost body. Don't think that's exactly what you're talking about, but it made me think of that lol

I like the idea of just planting the stick and pumpkin in the middle of the cemetery!

Do you have the video? I can't quite get an understand of the practice by your description.

I think this could be easily done with thin pvc, a T connection just under the funkin to hold it in place, with a led tea light inside to give a good glow. Then hot glue the sheet to the top/back of the funkin. Carve a very scarey face on it and it would be a hoot! Never heard of the prank though.
