Hi everyone, first post to the forums
I have a 14 year old that plays soccer and when asked which game we'd like to bring snacks to, we immediately asked for Oct. 29th. We love Halloween and would like to think of a way to do a themed snack, but there are two issues. 1) They have to be healthy and 2)They have to be easy/fast to eat.
We did oranges and drew pumpkin faces on them last year, but the problem we ran into is the kids only have 15 minutes for snack and peeling was time consuming. I know there will be fruit snacks and granola bars with Halloween wrappers but we'd really like to find something cool and original to MAKE or use.
Any ideas? Thanks for responding!

thats a tough one.the only healthy snacks are gonna be fruits or veggies and they dont lend themselves to being cute.i would think youre gonna have to bend on the healthy part a bit.maybe chocolate covered strawberries with scary faces painted on them

Here are a few. Have fun!

Place apple, stem side up, on cutting board. Cut away 2 halves from sides of apple, leaving 1-inch-thick center slice with stem and core. Discard core slice. Cut each half round in half. Then cut each apple quarter into two wedges using a crinkle cutter. Each apple will yield 8 wedges.
Spread 2 teaspoons nut butter on wide edge of apple slice. Top with another crinkled edge apple slice, aligning crinkled edges to resemble jaws. Insert almond slivers to make fangs.
Tip: For best effect, use a crinkle cutter garnishing tool to create a toothy look.

I know right? Stupid healthy stuff

I was thinking of making treat bags with healthy stuff inside (like pumpkin bags with carrots or something) and just using cool bowls like the ones they have at Target, but at the same time I don't want to be that crazy mom who goes too over the top and makes the other moms angry. Am I overthinking this? *paranoid*

Here are a few more.....

Slice carrots into 1-inch-thick chunks, top each with a blob of cream cheese and one half of a pitted black olive, and they’re ready to serve.

For the Witch:
2 slices light bread
2 slices dark bread
Green apple
Carrot
Olive slice
Sandwich filling
Stack light slices of bread and cut out an angular head for the witch’s head. Stack dark bread and cut out a long, thin hat. Fill both sections with sandwich filling of your choice. A fun option here is to make grilled cheese. Set sandwich sections in place on the plate. Use long strip of green apple slice for the brim of the hat, layers two slices if needed. Cut small circular slices for polka dots from carrot and arrange on hat.To make the hair, cut five irregular, slices of carrot and add to plate. Use an olive slice for the eye and a thin strip of apple for the mouth.

Celery with Roasted Red Pepper Cream Cheese or Hummus

Unless you know the kids don't have any peanut allergies I'd give the apples with peanut butter a second thought.
