Default Spirit Halloween's Fright Squad. Thoughts?

I got an email saying that their display items would be for sale for the first time ever this year. Having seen the really awesome carnival ride that the zombie babies rode in the store, I thought it would be awesome. They're mostly just selling the pretty crummy cardboard stuff. Of the available items, I think the Zombie Wasteland Sewer Tunnel and the Zombie Wasteland Waterfall are the only ones really worth getting, but certainly not for the price, especially since they're just cardboard. Just wondered if anybody else had thoughts on this whole thing.

Wow! Thanks for the link. I was talking to my wife about those pieces when we were in spirit last week. I was thinking about stopping in after Halloween and seeing if I could maybe get a good deal on some of them if they were going to trash them anyway. I see now from the prices they want for them that they're pretty proud of them and I'm guessing there's no great deals to be had. At least what I would consider to be a great deal. Especially considering that most of the big props are cardboard and wouldn't hold up well out in the elements.

I am considering trying to replicate the PVC fogger pipe. I really liked that in the store. It would be relatively easy to replicate, fairly cheap for it's size, and would tear down and store well in the off-season.
I wish everyone was as kind as creepycathy!

I really liked the wastland sewer prop, but like you said, not for that kinda price. I think I would rather build one myself and use the idea and make it out of styrofoam with a pump, the plastic waterfall might be a problem to get that lime green look but just have to keep looking for it

Wow. I feel kind of dumb. I assumed all those cardboard pieces were just displays for the store itself.... 'Cause, y'know, it's CARDBOARD. It wouldn't hold up at all outside if it were to rain or be windy, or anything other than sunshine, really. Maybe they think whoever buys them will have them in an indoor haunted house. *shrug*

I also notice that our store only had about half of the zombie babies that are displayed on the website. It's too bad, really. I mean, I'm not into the zombie baby phenomena, but some of the ones on the website are actually pretty awesome. I certainly didn't see Angry Alice (she's adorable!), Molly Dolly (OMG, so cute!), or Runt (who wouldn't love that face?!?) at our store. How disappointing!

And I have to say, the moment I saw Ankle Biter, I lost all interest. It's just a modified Oopsy Daisy doll! From 1988! Really?!

I loved their toxic display from the monent I walked in the store and saw it. Best design they've had so far I feel. The settings are for indoors and say so. While i'd love the Toxic display in all it's glory that thing takes up a lot of room which i would sorely lack to display outdoors let alone indoors. I do think that some organizations or fundraising groups could easily fund it and add it to some haunt or halloween party in their building, maybe even a high school homecoming dance (usually held in the fall) or heck i could even see used as a prom theme (zombie prom night, but am sure not everyone would want to see that for a prom theme).

People have been asking about buying the displays after halloween for a while now. I know some people said they wanted the trees or circus tent set up. I bought the zombie farmer and wife and loved their farmhouse. So i guess Spirit corporate saw this as a way to make some money and give people what they wanted albeit maybe not at a price they all wanted. The displays are cool and seem to get better every year. I love that i have a Spirit store in my area to go in and actually walkthru. It kicks off the halloween season for me and is sort of like the Macy's windows at halloween time. It also sparks alot of creativity in those of us that for one reason or another would need to make our own version of the displays.

I was really impressed with the Zombie baby circus swings.. inquired as to price and was told 599.00 but it would be half that later on after Halloween.

I didn't see it on the site anywhere..was looking for dimensions. It would really be awesome to have in our Midway section next year.

I did check it out thoroughly...the piece is metal frame, with a thin wood fiber covering, and that is covered with the foam/card-board facade. Should be good indoors..but for the right price I think I can re-work it a bit with plywood and make it more durable.. ;D

I think they are impressive displays but way too much money for what they are....They actually started selling them last year....I don't know of anyone that has bought any as of yet though because of the price....I talked to the manager last year about them and she said they have to be sent back at the end of the season, that they weren't allowed to give them away....ZR
