There was a bit on Hauntcast about a new tombstone that Spirit has wthat says, 'Stay scary." They didn't like it. I'm not gonna name anyone. Here's the website. http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/gt-stay-scary-26inch-tombstone/.
I Ididn't know this, but they said that a lot of these props that you can buy were originally invented by home haunters. The only flaw in it is that the skulllooks cartoonish.

The difference though is that the ones home haunters make are far superior quality. Alot of the store bought props are just cheap junk.

I went into a halloween store yesterday. Not a major "name" store. I was in "shock" at just how cheap all the stuff looked. Hell, my bluckies look better than their stuff (and I'm not good at it, yet).

It's sad! Haunt props are practically DISPOSABLE! (store bought props, not homemade)
Then you TRY to buy better quality, and find in many cases, higher prices do not equal quality!

I'm visually impaired, live with my mom and don't know how to build/make my own props, nor do I havde money or storage for it. I have no choice right now. You guys are right. most of it is cheaply made, and depending on the store, severely overpriced. I look for realistic quality, and price. I also look for cool and/or wow factor, as well as potential. I have a thing for browsing from when stuff come out, til the sales start. If I see something useflul and cheap, I gedt it. If I can't afford t, I wait for clearanced, or if it's chaper esewhr.

I so agree went into Spirit and was looking at the witch they had. It couldn't stand straight up and I would pay more then $30 for it! Micheal's crafts witch for $69 is far better IMO... I've started building all my props using pieces here and there of store bought but my Micheal Myers is the only on I will leave up that doesn't look like it's going to fall over that was store bought!

The sad truth is that true Halloween decorators are slowly fading out- I see less and less creative decorating and more xmas-style lights and just carved pumpkins. Less people buying = cheaper goods. I'm so disappointed in Target's selection this year, they had some really good home decoration stuff the past two years and this year's home stuff, like the candlesticks, feel/look so cheap, but they're the same price as the nicer set from years past.
