After looking at the current crop of Halloween merchandise, I seem to notice one thing: Designs this year seem to be reverting to old looks. I see a lot of:
Pumpkins/JOLs with simple carved faces
Orange and Black
Bats
Witches
Skeletons
Creepy
Most stuff still has a bit of cutesy in it, but on the whole the designs seem (to me) to show more traditional (creepy/scary) qualities and less cutesy. I like it! It is an improvement on the previous couple of years, for sure...
Does anyone else notice the same thing?

Ive noticed this big time and have mentioned it before in the findings thread. I think every store that Ive gone to that currently has decorations out has had items with the vintage look. I love it. Its a nice change to all the recent glitter stuff weve had for the last couple of years.

I noticed Target has a lot less glitter this year but Pier 1 still does.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I see more black cats and more owls. Even some evil trees with faces! And a lot of this stuff suggests that the designers are going back and studying decorations from the 1920's. It's not like this stuff ever entirely disappeared, but this year it seems much stronger. A serious retro focus!
It reminds me of when I was going to elementary school and the classrooms would have the Beistle cardboard decorations up. Lots of spooky atmosphere and strong colors and graphics. Mmmrrrow, here's a scary cat and a ghostly pumpkin face!"WHAT'S out there?"
