I just received an e-mail today that there's a new catalog available from Fright Catalog, but that it's very limited. The catch is that one must join a club to be able to receive it (as well as a few other goodies), then must cancel membership within a certain timeframe so as not to be charged the $9.99 per month fee; I'd rather pay a few dollars to get the book than have to go through all of that BS...Anyway, just figured that I'd let anyone who is interested know

You can still order for free online though right?
For $120 a year you get coupons & discounts. If you don't buy a lot it's not worth it, if you plan on using them exclusively, it may be worth it.Q: Will I save money as a member of the Haunt Club?
A: YES! All Haunt Club members will get special pricing on all products at FrightCatalog.com. We also estimate that all members will save at least $250 with exclusive discounts and coupons per year.Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!

Dude...I totally did not see the thing about the $9.99 for the monthly club membership. I just figured I was buying the catalog and it was a bit expensive because they were including some extra goodies...nope. A month later they charged my account $9.99 and when I called to ask what it was they told me they were not refunding it. I was shocked. I really liked that dang site too. Now I don't ever get to do business with them again.
He said "it's clearly stated on our website". But if you look, it's only on the right and it's a bit down on the page. Plus when you actually register for the catalog it doesn't say anything about there being a cost for this Haunt Club. I feel totally duped. I guess I should have read the fine print.

That's too bad, EvilMel. The main reason I didn't bother is because I did not want to have go through the hassle of trying to cancel the blasted thing. I used to love Fright Catalog years ago, but I'm not too thrilled about the new direction that they are taking, and I think that it's safe to say that others will be feeling the same way, if they aren't already.

I didn't notice it either when I ordered my catalog - I probably would have wanted to join the HauntClub but because I feel a little scammed I canceled it.
I really loved their site when it first started up but I rarely buy from them because they are so far overpriced when I comparison shop.As I was going up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. I wish, I wish he'd go away.

Try to contest it with your card company.

That sucks EvilMel!
I used to love Fright Catalog as well...not so much anymore with the changes they've made. Hopefully it's working out for them...but I haven't ordered anything from them in years and they used to be my go to for Halloween decor.

I, too, got charged the $9.99. The company refuses to refund. I encourage all who were ripped-off to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I did and the more who do so the better!
