I have been charged with coming up with scenes for a haunted hay ride. The first one I was planning on having a grave side scene with a girl in a casket and a couple mourners plus the undertaker. The undertaker is going to drone on about her dieing from natural causes. She is going to get out of the coffin shrieking about how she didn't die from natural causes. (It's going to be pretty obvious, she is going to have a wound in her head.)
Anyway two stations down the path I was going to have a trial for the guy who killed the lady at station 1. So the question is how can I make that scary? It's going to be at a pavilion which is open on all sides. Or should I just scrap the idea all together?

Your story sounds a bit contradictory unless I misunderstood it.

If officials in the story are trying to cover up that a girl was murdered in scene one (undertaker, natural causes, etc.), then it seems like officials having a trial for the guy who murdered that same girl sort of fights with the attempt of trying to cover it up. See what I mean?

Keeping a story flowing through the whole hay ride sounds pretty cool though.

Maybe instead...you could have the guilty man being haunted by the ghost of his victim. He could be histerically rocking and chanting while her ghost taunts him.

Yeah I guess I forgot to mention. The original idea was to have him found not guilty at the trail. And then have the ghost of the woman come after him or something, but I can't seem to get it to work in my head.

I just want to state that by no means am I an expert on entertainment haunts.

That being said, do the stations you’ve been put in charge of creating have to be a theme or a story?

Is this the first time a haunted hayride is being done by the people who asked you to do the stations?

Is there going to be other stations created by others? If so like what?

You trying do visual story scenes or with dialog? Because if the tractor engine is running dialog maybe difficult to hear.

Is the hayride going to stop at the stations or slowly pass by?

I ask these questions so I have better understanding of what’s going on and what you and the folks doing the hayride are trying to do.

One word: Actors! I went to the Headless Horsemen here in NY. They have a hayride. It was great when a person in a secene started moving and even followed the ride for a bit. The ultimate was the headless horsemen himself came charging out of nowhere and chased us. Later we could see him in the distance backlite by the moon, horse standing up on 2 legs, that was awesome!

Maybe at station 2, only have the guy that killed her. He is hitch hiking and wants a ride on your hay ride wagon. As you approach, he unsuccessfully hides the axe behind his back.

Does the whole hayride have to be related to this, or just anything scary? How about having a really creepy Red Riding Hood gleefully hacking up someone dressed like a wolf/werewolf.

Actually station 1 was going to be the funeral (dead girl in casket, yells about how she was murdered)
station 2 was going to be a cannibal cafe (victims in pens, one gets dragged into a cabin and you hear sawing and screaming, cook comes out with a leg)
station 3 was going to be the trial (trail for the guy who killed the girl at station 1, he was going to be found not guilty (think rigged jury))
station 4 is an insane asylum (inmates killing guards and such)
station 5 zombies 9(Zombies chasing after the hayride)
station 6 camp ground slaughter (tents and such set up. guy with chain saw comes out of woods after victim then turns on the wagon)
    station 7 lake monster
station 8 car accident ( car comes out of the woods and "almost" hits the wagon)

I don't get station 4, an outdoor Insane Asylum, or did the inmates escape to the outdoors and the guards tracked them down.
