But do you really need the guy being tried at station 3? I don’t think the station with the coffin girl really needs to be explained. Plus none of the other station seems to be linked together. The trial might be dark humor but doesn’t seem scary nor linked to the rest of the future stations unless I’m missing something.
Maybe consider changing station 3 to a crazy circus troop who’s wagon broke down or just set up in the middle of nowhere. Or maybe a pumpkin patch with crazies wearing pumpkin heads and burlap bag masks.
In the end remember it's about fun. Fun for you and fun for the actors and must impotant fun for the customers.
Stage someone on the hayride that gets taken away by one of the zombies........or gets stab by one of those crazy circus people..........that Would totally freak them out.
I like the idea of each scene being independent of the others, much more room for creative license. Sounds like fun!
Yeah I was planning on having a plant on the hayride. And have her taken from the ride. I am rethinking about having the trial. I just can't see it as being scary.
I plan on having small stations thrown in on the trail as there are large breaks between the small stations.
yeah, having someone pulled off the wagon really gets to kids.on my hayride, the haunters are constantly grabbing and slightly pulling on the kids to put the possibility of being taken in their minds.then, some time after about midpoint in the ride,my niece will actually be pulled out.you can see all the kids kind of look at each other like WTF!!!! and start screaming.ive been meaning to dress her in a very bright distinct sweater and after shes pulled out, have a dummy with the same sweater show up later in the ride, with head detached of course .
Im also in the hayride business. Ive tried elaborate skits and what not but i've learned that people don't want to see a play, they want to be in it. Just rock crazy costumes that tell the story. Don't have a theme that the viewers need to hear every word to understand. Just get a basic theme and get actors who know how to scare. The element of surprise is an easy and timeless tactic that never stops scaring. Don't get me wrong, i love having themes and i go crazy when i work at my hayride but surprising your auidience and getting them involved with the madness is much scarier than performing a show in front of them.
Please message me if you have anymore questions or want to compare ideas about hayrides.
