Hey there everyone!
I know it's been a while since I've been in here, but.... life goes by too fast!
I need some ideas for this year set-up. As you must all know by now, we have three themes: witch's lair, vampire's mansion and cemetery/ghosts. This year is supposed to be cemetery/ghosts, but I'm a bit dissapointed with our decor...
The Witch's lair and the Vampire's mansion themes have lots of things inside the garage for the ToTers to look at, as for the Ghosts theme..... well...... see for yourself:
We worked very hard to build the stone coffin and entrance gate, but people want to see more, especially as they are used to our displays for the witch and vampires...
WITCH
VAMPIRES
Do you have any ideas as to what I could add to spice up the decor? The basic idea for this theme is the cemetery, but I'm kind of lost.... I thought I could add some zombies, but I'm really not sure how it would look....
Thanks guys!![]()

How about if you were semi-open your sarcophagus to reveal a dead body within? Something creepy and realistic looking that the kids could peek in and look at. I doesn't have to do much other than lay there -- it might be suspenseful for those waiting for it to move or do something.
Maybe a fog machine or dry ice to make a nice low level fog along the flooring?
A couple years back I built a spooky looking well with a life sized shadowy figure standing next to it. I hand painted a signs saying "Best Candy" and an arrow pointing down into the faux-Well. I would instruct the Trick or Treaters to go get the candy from inside the well if they wanted the good stuff (I was also handing out candy at the door) The kids would go over, leery of my creepy looking figure and would then debate who was going to reach into the darkness of the well to get the candy. Again, nothing would happen and the Candy bars were in there, but it was the suspense of the whole thing, the kids had fun.
Maybe you wanna do something similar with candy in your sarcophagus, perhaps being held by the 'deceased'THE RESIDENT SKEPTIC (-- who happens to LOVE Halloween!!)

Thanks Dullahan! We already have a "deceased" laying in the coffin, complete with black light, rats and fog...

The well idea is a GREAT one!! You wouldn't happen to have pictures of this, now would you??!!
I also thought about putting jars filed up with gross stuff (for example, cold cooked spaghetti mixed with Jello) and ask the courageous kids to put their hand in the jar to obtain a special kind of treat (chocolate bar or special-looking Halloween treat), but I'm afraid my garage will get too messy....Support bacteria - they're the only culture some people have!

Well you could build a Gom Jabbar box... what? No takers?
If you're going to go with a gross thing jar, I'd use non-food items so you don't wind up with real bugs and rats. Get a bunch of those sticky hands, some of that ooze stuff from the Dollar Tree, some water beads (those clear "marbles" that disappear in water), fishing lures, or set up a box with ultrafine fishing line or invisible thread so it feels like you're reaching through spiderwebs.
