So, I have 2 roommates whom I've never met before a couple of weeks ago (when we moved into this apartment) and they have no idea what they're in store for this Halloween. I will say, I did ask them if they A. didn't mind my decorating for Halloween, 2. that I decorate on October 1st and it stays up all year and 3. if they, or their significant other, were arachnophobic. Now then, considering that this is an apartment and not a house that I own, plus I live on the 3rd story with only a small balcony, that does limit what I can do to an extent... but I try my best.
So, at this point in my Halloween haunting career, I'm only up to 3 large black bags of Halloween stuff, consisting of: light up pumpkins, candle holders, and a couple of simple little props. BUT, I do add to that every year. This year, I'm planning on going larger/better than ever... I'm buying a ground fog machine for inside, a pre-lit halloween tree from Lowes, a couple of laser lights to mount on the walls, blacklights, and some more props.
Below is a layout of my apartment (except it's reverse... my kitchen is on the left when you walk in)
So, my general idea is to go with a spider theme.... in the corner by the door I plan on putting what looks like a webbed spider victim, with webbing coming out and running all over the ceiling/walls for the apartment... in addition to that, I saw these automatic dropping spiders at Lowes that I would add at various points. Above the bar is this 3 bulb track light, which I'm going to replace the bulbs with blacklight bulbs and use those to shine blacklight onto the webbing. I'm going to add various Halloween props like my pre-lit Halloween tree I'm going to buy in the living and just various halloween related stuff around the apartment. In my room I'm going to put the fogger, run it through a cooler, and there is enough space under the door where I could run a tube out and have the fog coming from underneath the couch (possibly with glowing eyes down there?) Also, I plan on attaching a large spider above my door (which is in a corner), as well as I have a light up spider web along the wall.
What do you think of my general idea? Too much spider? Not enough something else? I definitely would like some feedback and ideas on how to improve this some more.
.....but, all in all....my roommates just don't know what they've gotten themselves into. lol

Sounds similar to what I'm planning to do, so I think it's just fine.
Don't forget the creepy cloth and candles!

That sounds pretty awesome to me. The drop down spiders sound perfect!! Who knows, maybe your room mates will find that they love Halloween as much as you do.

Hopefully they understand about your decorations staying up all year. My ex gf and I left our decorations up all year. Even had a black Christmas tree with a skull topper.

I agree...my roommates have no idea either!! I'm doing an entire home haunt in our garage (As I have every year, but this is their first time being here)....they have NO idea.
