Heya everybody!
Ok, zombies are really not generally my thing, but Hubby and his friends have been begging to have a zombie themed Halloween. I'm the sort of person who likes to have themes to work with for the over all haunt, and then room designs that fit within that theme. However, Hubby hasn't managed to come up with any themes other than "zombies" that he wanted to do, and I couldn't either. So, last week we were joking around and he came up with the idea of a Zombie Spa.
To me, this is a pretty funny idea with lots of possibilities for room set up, such as mud bath drownings, facials that peel off the face, massages with boiling oils, mani-petties where they fingers and toes are removed, etc. Lots of ideas for that stuff. But all of that seems more humorous than scary to me, and while humor is always good, I still wanna scare people! lol What's the fun of a haunted house that isn't scary??
So, anybody got any ideas for anything that could actually be scary that I might be able to do?
Or, if you've got more suggestions for things you'd find at a spa, I'd love to hear those too. lol
Btw, just thought I'd add in here the title of this year's haunt: Shadow Lair Night Spa and (last) Resort
Happy Haunting!

Hmm, just an idea...but maybe instead of your whole theme being based around the spa, it could be a Bed & Breakfast (Dead & Breakfast) or 'Last Resort' would be quite fitting as well. This way, you have more options to amp up the creepy factor. The spa could definitely still play a roll (the humor portion of your hant). With a B&B, you can create more scary scenes

Hehehe! Thanks Pumpkin, I was really happy to be able to come up with so many different ideas for the theme, I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes them!

Ooo MissMandy, that's a great idea! Thanks! Hmmm... Dead and Breakfast or Last Resort... both of those are good, I'll have to ask the hubby for his opinion on that one.
But let's see... what else would a B & B or a resort have that a spa wouldn't... a crazy proprietor, I suppose would work better for a B&B setting... maybe some sports or leisure type stuff? Maybe I could do the porch like a big skiing accident or something... Or maybe some archery mishaps or poison apple picking or ... hmmm...
Any more ideas you guys can think of that would go with a spa/B&B/Resort type theme?
I'd really appreciate some more input!
Thanks!

Well in the few B&Bs I've stayed at they always have an afternoon tea time....so something like that Zombie-related....with Zombie juice "tea" & "snacks" zombies like.... is there a room in your house you can designate as a sauna maybe?
I didn't make him for you!... He carries the Charles Atlas seal of approval.
It's not easy having a good time! Even smiling makes my face ache!

I absolutely love this idea! Although there's potential for humor, I could really see making this concept scary in the execution if the zombies are horrific. I don't have much to add yet, except that bloody towels and footprints seem like a natural.

Oh, yeah, good idea with the bloody towels and footprints! lol

Actually, we do have a room designated for a sauna/steam room, it's the only room we've got a firm theme for so far! LOL We're going to put the fog maker in there and some green lighting and then have half dissolved corpses in towels and puddles on the seats. lol
This is already helping! I knew this was the right place to ask for advice on what else I could do! Keep the ideas coming if you've got 'em guys! Thanks soooo much for your help!!Mordessa

You could have a zombie clerk at the front desk for guests to 'check in'......but never check out
Things to eleborate this scene: an old fashion telephone, skeleton keys on a peg board for the guest rooms, an old fashion desk bell, a guest comment book w/ feather pen (have the book open w/ things written inside like "This place was a nightmare come true! Thank you so much for the horrid accomodations." LOL).
You could have a scene somewhere of zombies sitting down to breakfast. Of course, that breakfast would consist of body parts and organs lol. If you have a bedroom that will be seen by guests, you could set it up as the honeymoon suite. Have a bride and groom zombie, dead roses and candles everywhere, an arm chilling in an ice bucket LOL
