I put my christmas decs up on the first of december but the halloween stuff won't be going up until the day before, if that

For a couple of reasons - it may rain and things might ruined, and also I'm the only person the street who decorates so it'll look weird.

Plus my indoors decorations are going to interfere with the normal running of the house!

Indoor stuff- Oct. 1st. Outdoor- basic decor- (spider webs on porch, a couple "lesser" dummies- ones I don't mind getting wet or stolen- some lighting, vampire in the attic window, sound system) a couple weeks before. Gradually add a few more things the days leading up to Halloween, then the mother load goes out in the AM on the 31st.

Is it too flip to say I put them out the moment I notice the flames?

Last year, set up outside decorations the day of Halloween, but mainly because I'd been so busy with work. This year, I'm planning to get them out earlier -- but the HOA regs prohibit setting up any earlier than 2 weeks before the holiday.

I put mine out the day of Halloween. The kids go to school, and when they come back they see the transformation. It just adds to the magic.

That, and I dont trust the little monsters with them left out alone.

I put my indoor Fall stuff in September and then I put the outside stuff up on October 1st. I felt kinda weird last year because I'm one out of like three people on my block that actually decorates but whatevs. People seemed to like it. Might wait on the graveyard this year since I made a black picket fence to go around it and I don't want it to get knocked over or anything.
