I usually wait a couple weeks after they start putting the candy out because they usually put the left over candy from the year before out first and I don't wanna buy that stuff. Plus if its around too early I'll just eat it all before Halloween gets here.lol.

Walgreens tends to cycle brands for Buy One Get One deals throughout October so I always wait for a BOGO before I buy anything I'm planning on handing out to kids, that way I can get good stuff and give out twice as much of it. Otherwise if you want candy corn or those horrible caramel peanut butter things then go for it.

Buy whenever you want. After all, it's the same candy that will be out in October - it's not like it will be any less "fresh" if you buy it six weeks early.

OJ, I was a Walgreens store manager for 16 years, and while some of their Pharmacy billing practices might be a little shady, the only Halloween candy that is kept after Halloween is the basic stuff like Snickers fun size 13oz and it is long gone before August of the following year. Xane you are correct, BOGO is their best ad. It used to make me laugh to see all the clearance shoppers buying literally cartfulls of bagged candy the day after Halloween at half-off, when they could've purchased it on sale weeks earlier for the same price when the selection was at its peak. My last thought on the matter....I would routinely gain 5lbs between August (Halloween Candy) and late April (Easter Candy) and generally kept it on. Sixteen years of that and I knew I needed a new career since I obviously had no self-control
Undead and loving it!

I start buying here and there when they first put it out. Thing is, with me, I don't have a sweet tooth at all! I just love the way a big bowl of Halloween candy looks. I can leave it out for weeks and not eat one piece. I have a 6 y/o though and if the bowl is there, it will all be gone in just days!

Anything but a few days before Halloween is too early for me. I have no self control. I buy, I eat. I wish I could do as Kallie does. I agree with her. A bowl full of candy is beautiful decor.

well I do actually wait for the BOGO sale because i am cheap
. But this past month I have been couponing and I have a lot of the Walgreens Register Rewards so I figured I could start buying it with that.

So few people understand this method.
Xmas trees and Pumpkins are the same way. The tree that people wait to buy later in December because they want it to be fresh for Xmas was cut at the same time as the tree their neighbor bought right when the tree lot was set up. The main difference is, he got first choice out of many trees, and got his in the water sooner so it stayed fresh.
My parents were the "It's way to early to buy one now! It's going to go bad!" type and that always aggravated the hell out of me. When I see pumpkins or trees first show up, I buy them right then and there. NO ONE CAN STOP ME NOW!!!!
