I met this six-year-old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes... the devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil

Yeah I've noticed the stors around here are putting there stock up early to. Normally it's september when the fist items are displayed.

One need not be a house; The brain has corridors surpassing Material places.

I've noticed that certain stores around here are putting their Halloween stuff out earlier then previous years. I'm definitely excited for this year. Partly because of our decision to NOT have a party. Sounds crazy, I know, to be excited about not having a party. But this is giving us the chance to do all of the things that we missed out on due to having a party in the past few years.

Personally, I seem to be a bit more excited this year. I think it has something to do with this forum
I never have no one to get excited with me that Halloween is right around the corner. But now I have ya'll
I think it also has something to do with the fact that I'm doing a backyard haunt for our costume party this year. I'm real excited to see my guests' reactions!

I caught a bit of The Dukes of Hazzard (the movie) the other day, and I couldn't help but think of you, MM

Seriously, your sentiment is very true. In 'the real world', few people that I know are ecstatic about Halloween's approach, and the ones working at the stores with the merchandise already out generally don't care (or worse, look at someone who is buying Halloween items like they are some sort of oddity
). Here, it's a big ole group of Halloween freaks...
I love it
It has been said that Halloween is second only to Christmas; let's see if we can reverse that...

Well, Thriller is playin on the radio right now, so I guess the buzz is out there.
Plus my "Learn the Thriller Dance" DVD arrived in the mail last night. So I have until September 9th to learn it in time for the Zombie Prom

Can't say I've noticed any audible "buzz" in my area, but then again, there's never much of one! Dollar Tree has Halloween stuff on the shelves but if you buy it, they look at you like you must be a serial killer or a devil worshipper. Apparently, all the "good" people wait till October to buy Halloween merchandise - more respectable I guess.

Yesterday, I spent some time looking at my Halloween pictures from last year. I did start to feel that little "tingle" I always get when I'm planning, so all is not lost. I was beginning to wonder if it would happen at all this year!Dear Sweet Leota, Beloved By All. In Regions Beyond Now But Having a Ball...

I've noticed a bit of a buzz in Huntsville, AL. I've seen candy corn in mid July. I saw a few stores with stuff out, Cracker Barrel and Lowe's. They usually have packaged candy out. I saw whee a new Spirit Hallween store is going. The start of the retail Halloween season goes from Labor Day weekent to Halloween. What'd be cool is if haunts got on thebandwagon and opened at th end of August.

I think it's possible that what with all the increased fretting over the economy, political strife, absurd heat, "bad things" being more predominant in the news than usual...people are, for the most part, just wanting to hole in, welcome the cool weather and let their hair down a little. Halloween is pretty lighthearted and invokes comfy, fun feelings in many...autumn is a season of change and newness...so maybe that anticipation that feels a bit stronger than normal has something to do with all of this.
I have noticed that stuff is out way earlier than it was last year. I can remember Michaels not having so much out at the end of last August, unlike this time around where just about everything is on the shelves already. I went in for the first time a few days ago and saw two older women picking out some Halloween decorations and debating over which they liked best (those old school door hangers, pretty cool actually). Lots of other people were in the "seasonal" section checking stuff out. Made me grin.
