Okay, this thread is for all of us Michales fans.
Anyways. Michaels started getting crappy in 2009. So I decided to make a thread for the OLD Michaels.
Anybody have any pictures/videos of props they have gotten from Michaels in the past? Feel free to post em' here! Even if their in-store pictures, go on and share them. Any props from Michales you've always wanted? I'd be glad to hear it!
As long as it has to do with the Michaels store, it fits.
Thread: The OLD Michaels.

Hmm, maybe I have a short term memory when it comes to Michael's, but I'm still pretty satisfied with their stuff recently. A couple things seemed overpriced by about $10 this year but as far as quality and variety I'm happy. Especially compared with some other chain stores IMO Michael's is doing pretty well.

All my Gemmy lifesize figures came from Michaels....3 male mummies, 1 female, Dead Donna, The skeletal coachman, beheaded bride, ghost groom, etc. All bought using a coupon.
I'm disappointed that they don't have a lifesize this year.
Also Lemax (not really Michael's fault, but...). My pieces from the early years are far superior than what is out today.

True, in the past, Michael's carried a lot more Halloween items, but they also got stuck with lots of things that had to be deeply discounted after the holiday. I can't really blame them for scaling back.

I'm disappointed that I keep seeing the same old stuff every year. Yeah there will be a few new things, but how many years are they going to keep putting out the severed fingers for $5+ (that you can get at the Dollar Tree for $1), severed hands, frosted jars with a sticker slapped on that says "Eye of Newt" or whatever, the same stamps.... the list is endless. I feel like a lot of places have been wimping out the past few years. There was that one year Martha Stewart did the Holiday special magazine for Halloween and it had a TON of great ideas. Every year since then has been the same stuff recycled with a couple new ideas thrown in. Department 56 stopped doing their ceramic kitchen stuff like the fancy serving bowls, cake stands and cookie jars. That stuff was freakin awesome! Wilton puts out the same stuff every year. It seems like the places that do really cool stuff don't bring it back again like Pottery Barn or William Sonoma. I guess I'm disgruntled with a lot of stores right now. They love their Xmas shoppers more than us.

I think with holiday stuff stores are always stuck with left overs that they have to discount. Every day after Halloween shopping spree I have been to has had isles packed 10 minutes after the store opens. Target only ever has a few items a week later.

Just came from Micheals and was schocked beyond belief. When the Canadian dollar was down a higher price was to be expected but the dollar is at par and recently above the US buck. Gothic Haunted Mansion $44.95 US, $79.99 Canadian. Sorry Micheals you've lost my business for good.

I hear ya dustin2dust it seems like they are gearing up for Christmas now more than Halloween.
I do need some more of the witch hair garland michael's has had forever for our haunted forest in my garage. We staple it to the ceiling alternately and you have to make your way through it, very creepy and effective.
From the good old days I have the life size mummy bride, she scares the crap out of my kids though so she stay in the garage. I actually have a bunch stuff. They used to have these lovely little painted ceramic witch jars (not just a glass bottle with a sticker on it) got all of them. I have a cool skull bowl too.

I hear you all.
Michaels once had the best selection of unique and creative Halloween decorations, and now they've just lost their touch. Their 2005-2008 displays where awesome! But unfortunately that's when I JUST started getting interested in Halloween.
I'm still kicking myself for not getting some of their older stuff. And now their things are so rare, you cant find them anywhere today!
The only things I managed to get where the Mummy Dog and Donna the Dead.

They scaled back? My Michaels has more stock than ever before. Not as many moving figures, but tons of home decor, crafting supplies, fall floral, and staples--rats, bats, cats, insects, stones, signs, etc. It might not be what the advanced haunter or super-scary/shock value haunter needs, but it works for haunters who like modifying props before putting them in the haunt.

Just a thought...has their selection gotten worse, or have our expectations gotten higher?
(I'm betting on both, honestly....)a plague on both your houses
