Do you buy more before Halloween or after Halloween?
I realised when stores finally get halloween stuff, I do get excited, but rarely buy anything (maybe one big prop and smaller stuff here and there, with coupons), But after Halloween, when's it's 50% to 75% off, I get almost everything I can get my hands on! (L).
Being cheap or wise (L), I find it funny that I get all new props.. that I can only use for the next year!
Am I the only one who does this?

I buy what I call "must haves" before Halloween or items I can't live with out. Reason being, in the past, when I have waited the item I wanted has sold out. Then items I "Like", I wait till they go on sale or wait till the end of the season (after Halloween).

I'm the same way. If I really like something I'll spurlge on one thing. I usually buy the rest when it's on sale right before or after Halloween. I pile it all in the building and by the time Sept rolls around and I start going through my stuff. I realized I had forgot about some of the stuff I have.

After Halloween, not to mention all the stuff I pick up in the 'off-season' when I see it. Of course I give in and pick up a few things before Halloween if I have a coupon or its a must have that I know won't make it to clearance.
Right now I'm dying over a prop at my Lowe's that's super cool but way more than I want to spend. I know it won't go down before we sell out, but its just too much. I praying for a coupon right now.

I'm just as those who posted above. I'm a big-time clearance shopper, but will try to get an item on sale during the season if its a must-have. I spend the early months shopping around and watching inventory at the "best" stores, and then know where to hit when clearance time happens. In the meantime, I focus my budget on things that arent necessarily "halloween" items (lights, sound devices, etc) that aren't likely to go on clearance. I leave first couple days of November clear for clearance shopping.

We (my wife and I) buy things for props and projects throughout the year but bigger buys wait until after Halloween. Our anniversary is November 2nd (Day of the Dead) so we buy each other a few Halloween props as anniversary gifts. Sometimes we pool our money and buy a big one. Best part is everything is at least 50% off on November 1st.

I buy all of my Halloween decorations before Halloween.I usually don't have anymore money left to buy anything after Halloween and if I want something really bad I don't want to take a chance of it being sold out after Halloween, like those Walgreens Jack In The Box.

generally i start making things (more craft like than prop like) and gathering stuff for it before halloween.
I buy most of my actual halloween stuff on sale afterwards
I also allow myself one 'splurge' each year- and its usually before halloween. last year it was an animated witch from target- and i got her cheaper online than in the store (i fell in love with her in the store and regretted not getting her, but was happy i didnt get her when i saw her nearly $40 cheaper on their website AND free shipping! LOL)Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker. - Linus

I'm cheap bastard and I flat out refuse to pay retail price on anything unless it's cooler than the other side of the pillow and there's only one left in the entire tri-county area and Orlando where I end up hanging out more often than I should. So... after Halloween. And then I do the same thing until clearance is 75% off... Walgreens annoyed me last year with their new rule about "no more than 50% clearance before we throw it out or ship it back" except on candy.
If it's something that there's tons left of, you should grab as many as you can afford because the company will almost definitely not buy that item again after having to sell most of their stock at 75% off. 2009 Walgreens had rainbow pumpkin and skull swords that were a big hit at parties, and I don't remember if it was 08 or 09 that Walmart had bubble foggers for $40 retail compared to $80 that every other store charges, and then 75% off, they haven't had them since, at least not in my area.

We pick up stuff for homemade props throughout the year, but at Halloween we will usually have a couple of bigger purchases on Halloween stuff. I don't usually wait for the post Halloween sales.
What I am going to need is your standard flame thrower...
