Goodwill stores never let me down. They are a treasure trove! And the local Targets, K-marts etc donate a lot of last years overstock to them. I stay away from the "Halloween" stores altogether.

I love Goodwill and other thrift stores, craigslist, as well as hole in the wall antiques markets, even dumpsters on occasion. You'd be amazed at what cool stuff you can find with just a little imagination.

Cheapy brass candleabras and anything old and dusty/rusty can go a long way when used right. I got an old broken down wheelchair the other day out of a dumpster. Can't wait to dress up my blucky in his best duds and introduce him to his brand new throne.

Just try to keep in mind that some of the best and most authentic looking props don't have to come from Spirit or big box stores, usually with a big price tag. This took me a few years to learn, but I'm loving coming up with super easy, yet high impact props now. The best part about going this route is that you know you will have a one of a kind prop that you won't see in your neighbors yard.

    Good luck and happy haunting!

Walgreens for stuff you never thought to find, and usually for cheap.

Thrift stores for building blocks for props. I've also found pumpkins and other actual Halloween, but it is rare.

    Michaels for odds and ends.

Target depending. I didn't like last year's theme, but they usually have pretty great stuff.

Then, Dollar Tree, Garden Ridge (oh, how I miss the way they were back about 5 years ago... TONS of animatronics and aisles of props ), Home Goods, Ross, Tuesday Morning...

Man oh man. My favorite store used to be Illuminations for the coolest little Halloween candle things. Overall, I don't really know. There's a lot of stores I go to for one specific type of decoration. That Homestore place is looking pretty darn good from all the pictures. I'm going to have to find one of those stores!

WALGREENS. They seem to have the most original and cool stuff all while being very affordable! But I love Spirit's props, too, even though they are very expensive.

Yard sales! Even garbage huntin' through the neighborhoods dollar tree, amazon, target, big lots, michael's. I do NOT like Halloween superstores. Too over priced!
