I am sure this was asked before, but it just came up in a thread about getting kids to show up.

I think you can do some blood and gore without necessarily making it Saw level R-rating. I think in the past this wouldn't have been possible but since they've got racks of bloody hands in the Dollar Tree nowadays I don't think most kids would bat an eyelash at it.

If it seems like it belongs, I'd definitely use it.
a cemetary? No probably not.
The haunt I'm doing this year? Absolutely.

i do creepy but no gore - i do graveyards, witches, ghosts, spiders, grim repaers, zombies even... stuff like that but no gore or mass blood. a little bit of blood doesnt bother me but its pretty minimal in my stuff.

I don't like blood in the context of violence. I still have it planned, for example, to include creepy drink options at the snack bar part of my haunt. This would include a dispenser filled with what looks like blood. That's creepy, not over the top. As soon as it gets into a violent content, it's gone too far for my haunt.

yeah stuff like that is fine and doesnt bother me at all. kind of like witches bottle or specimen jars with bloody fingers/ brains, etc - that doesnt bother me.
bloody bodies and gore in my graveyard would bother me LOL. I think your statement 'As soon as it gets into a violent content, it's gone too far for my haunt.' sums up my feeling better that i was able to do LOL (im only on my first cup of coffee and the cogs arent fully turning in my head yet LOL)Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker. - Linus

Ditto- I love to make it creepy but I can live without the Dexter type guy pretending to hack people to pieces. Kind of disturbing if you ask me. LOL

I use little if no blood for my haunt. Maybe a little for Dracula or Dracula's bride.
I have zombies, dungeons, cemeteries and this year a mad scientist, but no blood. I go for creepy and spooky. I still get plenty of screams.

I go for spooky Halloween all the way scarecrows, giant spiders, tombstones, ghosts. skeletons, witches etc but I do not use blood. I had one bloody hand in the display two years ago and I changed it out for a skeleton hand stuck in the giant cob webs and for some reason I just enjoyed that better. I think the little TOTs still get a great scare and the display looks very traditional to Halloween roots.

I noticed Spirit merchandise is increasingly bloody/gory....It's personally not my thing but I did get the grave digger last year which has part of it's face rotted off....I guess I don't mind a little but I'm never going to buy something like the zombies gnawing on flesh while that is perfect for someone else I guess.....I like classic creepy scary......It really comes down to the image you want to project for your haunt.....ZR
