I want to have a swamp theme in my main bathroom for the party. I want to have some snakes, vegetation, a croc, skeleton and of course some muddy water. My question is how to get the look of dirty water without making myself a lot of clean up or worry about staining. I have a traditional porcelain over cast iron tub so any help would be appreciated. I was thinking of also putting several of the small ultrasonic misters so that it provides some eerie fog like mist. So, can't have real dirt/mud in the water I don't think. Thanks again!

Got Milk?
Chocolate milk; enough to make the water dirty then add a few drops of green & red food coloring.
Afterwards, you can have a relaxing "milk" bath! Mmm...Chocolatey. In all seriousness though, it only takes a little bit.
I remember seeing this technique on an episode of "Movie Magic" a 1990s TV show detailing movie special effects.
It will not stain or gunk up your mini fog atomizers. It won't smell either. Try it, looks perfect!

What about lining the tub with mud/slime colored cloth?
I'd opt for something dark and maybe have the Creature from the Black Lagoon emerging from the tub. You could add LOTS of "sea weed" (real or fake plants.)
Remember, lighting is everything. And don't forget the sound effects!

Would coffee or tea stain? If it wouldn't that would work too.

I think tea and coffee would stain because they stain countertops if not wiped up quickly... or if they did maybe bleach would remove the stains?

Thanks everyone! I would have never thought of chocolate milk. I will have to get a gallon and try it. I do wamt it more opaque so it hides the stuff underneath keeping everything in place. I thought of coffee but am too afraid it will stain the nonskid surface that is part of the tub. Gonna do a trial soon. If you have amymore ideas, keep them coming!

You might try powdered milk and chocolate. It would be easier to mix in a larger quanity. Do a search for milk bath recipes on the Internet. I used to make bath salts and ocassionally would make a milk bath concocation. I was in Goodwill recently and they had a large basket of new bath pamper products and one of them was chocolate milk bath, so you can buy it and it shouldn't stain.
Milk baths are wonderful. I am a member of another board where we do gift exchanges and one year it was something chocolate. Some sent dishes or candies, cakes, etc., but I got a wonderful set of choc milk bath things. It was heaven

Remember that even chocolate milk powders have dye in them.
