Okay fellow haunters. I am interested in what inspired you to haunt your house, so to speak? What was the horror film that made you think, "I can do that"? What was your initial influence to begin your quest to scare the bejeepers out of your Trick-or-treaters?

This year it's Friday the 13th theme.

Tents in the front yard, ground hugging fog, custom made by me soundtrack(forest/lake sounds like crickets and frogs, with the ch-ch-ch ah-ah-ah in it and a bunch of people screaming every now and then), and me. Dressed as friday the 13th part 3 Jason.

I NEED to beat out the only other guy that haunts his yard this year. I need to.

I have been following that thread with great interest. I like the idea. But what movie was your first inspiration. What one movie makes you, you? What was the first horror film that you saw that grabbed you and made you who you are today?

Halloween 3... (I know it's blashphemy, but I saw it when I was 3 or 4.... It spoke to me on many different levels.) Then, the "Faces of Death" series and Hellraiser got me interested in the special makeup effects side of things.

    The Wizard of Oz
I'm serious, the Wicked Witch of the West used to scare the crap outta me! That's when I learned that being terrified can be a lot of fun.

You are not alone. A lot of people have been terrorized by the witch in the Wizard of Oz.

The Village and Halloween (the original). I think anticipation and your own imagination can scare you more than anything.
I agree about oz, but the flying monkeys and the guards scared me!

**can't sleep Flying Monkeys will eat me**

Wicked Witch Schmicked Witch, those monkeys STILL give me nightmares.

I wouldn't say any movie got me into the whole haunting/decorating thing, because plenty of people like horror movies but they don't go all out on Halloween.

We always put up decorations for every holiday & I had the Beistle cut outs for Halloween I'd put on our window. My grandparents used to get such a kick out of it so I kept it up even after my grandfather died. I bought a GID skeleton mask one year (that I still own & use), found some styrofoam & cardboard, made a coffin & the rest is history. No one else on the street does it so I rule the night in my little corner of the world, though I wouldn't mind if anyone else did it, it'd be a nice change.
Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!
